Honestly, I am bit bored and tired of all the blah, blah

Thor and Stephan,
Thank you for your great post(s). You have both stated quite clearly and eloquently what I hope are the thoughts of many others here on the Forum.
For me the Forum has -is becoming an exercise in group dynamics. A few voices clamoring to be heard above all the others.
I wonder how much all of this is related to Kevin Jones (very) recent decision to leave the Forum.

Paul

I'm a nobody, not a collector, not a maker (of knives), not an entrepenuer, but I do read and enjoy (for the most part) the informative posts on this forum. Having said that, I realize my opinion/opinions are not very important, but I do have one fairly strong opinion, and that is that since two valuable contributors have elected to leave the forum, that I believe the wrong people decided to leave.

The other Paul

A nobody?!?!?!

Just one of the best sheathmakers on the planet.!!!!!!!

Paul, while your modesty is appreciated, it is certainly not necessarry! :)

This forum is for everyone that takes part here. It should not be molded around what some people think it should be, but instead should be open to all areas of discussion, debate, posting of photos, whatever. If you don't care for the topic of the thread, then don't go there, but don't try to make it uncomfortable for people that do want to enter into those topics to do so.

I love threads that show knives, talk about knife makers and those that talk about collecting. I really enjoy threads about knives as investments, enen though that isn'y my reason for collecting. As afar as i'm concerned there is nothing wrong with giving an honest opinion of what you think of a knife, even if it isn't all positive. I don't have any use for threads that discuss upcoming shows, unless they include photos of knives that are going to be taken to the show, so I don't bother to go to those threads. It's easy really.

Hopefully this forum with stay open to all commentary, even that which is controversial. I wouldn't want to see this forum become a PC, kumbaya, nice to a fault place. It also shouldn't become a nasty to a fault place either.

I've never been a believer in the old saying, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." The extention of that saying is political correctness, and I absolutely despise political correctness.

Take what you want from this forum and add to it in whatever way you feel is appropriate, just please don't try to tell me what I should take from this forum, or add to it. If you disagree with something I post, tell me why and maybe there will be a debate, or maybe you will be able to show me the error of my ways, but unless I am showing disrespect or am being spiteful, don't tell me that I shouldn't post my honest opinions.

I'm not sure what the post about STeven staying away being smart means, exactly...

Nick,

What I meant is that (1) this is not the best time in BF Custom history & if someone wants to take some time off, now is probably a good time, and (2) there's been quite a few posts where the potential for feet-in-mouth outcomes was high, and that's something that Steven's "shoot from the hip" style (even moderated as it's been recently) makes him vulnerable too. Quite frankly, I have found the recent pot shots between contributors very sad, regardless of where the responsibility lie.

How about we talk about more makers aswell. Be it more folder makers, or stock removal guys. I would just love to see us open out horizons.

More diversity in the knives presented would be most welcome. A lot of forum mebers here have terrific collections of daggers, high end folders, slipjoints, Loveless-inspired knives, and so on. I would be happy to post such knives, but I don't own any. I hope that those who do, will.

Roger

As I get get each knife in my collection, I always post pictures. I also try to get the makers to take photos of the knives as they are being made. Folks seem to like seeing knives being made. You will sart to see aome different styles in my collection in the future. More Loveless styles, and I am going to be adding some subhilts and an ethnic knife or two.

Discussions about makers would be great, but would really benefit from the input of the makers themselves. It can many times be difficult to get makers to discuss themselves.

I can safely say that this forum highly responsible for my new interest in bowies and fixed blades, as I was no more then a folder collector.

OK, so I am posting in this thread after all.

Maybe I misread it, but it seemed that some contributors to this thread got the idea that I was promoting "kumbaya" and against constructive critcism. Not so. As I stated in the starter post, if someone is asking for feedback to not be negative that should be respected, but in all other cases, nothing wrong with critical comments. Of course, there is never a reason to be crude or disrespectful about it.

I also never stated that I was against discussion of the knife world or even value, ROI or other such things (even though they don't particularly interest me - but as at least one person said - you don't have to read them).

It is the two people hijacking a thread to go back and forth in attacks or other such negativities which get really old. Little private wars that seem to get people to leave the 'community'. That is just not beneficial to anyone.
Of course, that is not all that I meant and I think people in general got that out of my initial post and the frustration it conveyed. No need to repeat myself though (or maybe I already did that).
