Anyone else say things like this trying to convince your better half that the long nights of searching for reviews , pricing and any other info about a knife that's going to be (the last one) ? I think that I've even convinced myself once or twice that this will be the last knife I would ever need or want , but I am sick and I need help because before it 2 vendors gets delivered I'm looking for the next one that I desperately (need) .

Yeah been there done that. Then the next day a knife shows up at my door. Then three days later another shows up. No use in explaining it she'll never understand.

I do that with myself more than the wife, she doesn't really know what I buy. Probably for good reason at times.

Yep, own four. Never need another one, they tick every necessary box. Not sure why I'm still here.

*Lies I've never told myself*

ETA: the better half has no idea what I do, and lucky for me she doesn't really care as long as I pay the bills. [emoji4]

I told her the title of your thread. She just rolled her eyes and nodded her head like yah, yah . . .

I'm still waiting for the perfect moment . . . when she is in the right mood . . . to show her my Hold Out I and attempt to defend why I NEEEEED such a "thing". I kept it out of sight for a year. I told myself that if I said " I've had this for a year and I haven't been carried off and locked up for it so maybe it will all be "OK" . . . dear "

. . . Since the year has passed I go get it when I get home and use it in the kitchen while she is there as if I do it everyday . . . which I do when she isn't around. Just a matter of time before she actually sees it.

"No really dear this is my last unGodly big folder."
(what do I say "if" I get that XL Voyager that keeps calling to me ? ? ? . . . I'll blow up THAT bridge when I get to it . . . I guess).

PS: it's weird how she hasn't said "What the HELL is THAT ? ! ? !
yet
be interesting to hear her inner dialog. or on second thought . . .

Yep... I am familiar with this phenomenon. My wife just asked me to stop saying it. She has told me that we both know it's not true. We're good with my sickness. :D

Honey, this is the last one I swear! I wonder how many headstones there are in the world with just that inscription? :D

This is my situation as well. Luckily too neither of us feel like we have the right to keep the other from doing the things that make ourselves happy. Plus she knows I'm gonna do whatever the hell I want to do anyway, and I think she realizes that we wouldn't be where we are in life unless I was the type of person that did so.

The way my family sees it is that while i spend money on knives and pc components. I dont waste my money on drugs and getting wasted at a bar. so i guess they dont care in a way ahah

This ^

But then we like to keep the illusion going that she is in control.
It's more peaceful that way.
And I have to sleep outside on the deck less often that way.

Two quotes that come to mind that apply here :

Soldier . . . the army can't make you do anything you don't want to do . . . BUT IT SURE AS HELL CAN MAKE YOU WISH YOU HAD !

and

Honey . . . tell me one of my favorite lies.

I've only been into knives about two months, and now I have 4 =(

"Honey, I only need one knife!"
*Purchases BM 940-2*

"Honey, I need a backup knife! Last one!"
*Purchases GiantMouse GMP2*

"Honey, I need a beater knife and it's a great deal! Last one, really!!"
*Purchases CS Recon 1*

"Honey, I need a glass breaker! I'm going to sell my other knives, promise!!"
*Purchases BM Contego*

The only way I'm going to succeed is if I quit reading Bladeforums all day!!

Nope. I get what I want, when I want. But my tastes with knives aren't very extragavant. Different with firearms as I like the good stuff.

I'm not rich, but I buy my wife nice stuff. When it comes time for me to buy something nice she doesn't say anything. I got a Minn Kota ultrex and Rec Tec grill on my pay off list. When I'm done with that I am seriously considering an Olamic Wayfarer custom with sheepcliffe blade.

I'm lucky, my wife to be actually supports all my hobbies. She's already bought me one knife on her trip to spain. I don't go and buy a knife every week so maybe that's why she's cool about it.
