I recently decided that I LOVE slip joints!!! I recently bought and have been EDCing a Mike Alsdorf Interframe Jack. I ordered an other Aolsdorf, AND I have talking with Jerry Halfrich abut a knife!! I think I am hooked on the elegant simplicity of the slip joint, Yup, I am hooked, and very happy about it Thanks for listening!!.

Thank Goodness, Suz! No more suffering through; "Sebenza this and Sebenza that!!"
jk!
It's a great place!

Nothin like a nice slippy in the pocket.

The best ones are the ones you find at yard sales and flea markets. The well worn ones, that have been somebodys daily companion, and look it. I love the patina that many years put on, that can't be duplicated.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

Anyone using that as a sig line should be here (in this forum feeling right at home), enjoying slipjoints and making new friends. ;).

Welcome to the fold Suz!

Yes, in double locked containers in the dark recesses of our closets. ;)

(I should know. I've got quite a few lurking therein. :p)

I keep my single Spyderco (Manix) in a secret compartment in my tool/knife box so they let me hang out here. ;)

Once introduced to slipjoints you may as well kiss your wallet goodbye. When that runs dry you'll start selling off your tactical knives to pay for your bone, stag and 1095 habit. Don't ask me how I know this. :o

Welcome to the world of Traditional Knives. You are a lady of fine repute please don't let your slippie show in technical places...

Welcome to Traditional, TKC! With your good taste, I knew it was just a matter of time until you made your way over here.

As I've gotten older I've found that I appreciate the classics more. I just started carrying my granddad's old Case Trapper again. That thing (along with the dogs that helped raise me) was my constant companion until my early teen years. It was around then that I fell victim to a near fatal form of "tactical" knife disease. I made a miraculous recovery last summer when I found granddad's old trapper in a dresser drawer. As for your sig line, TKC, that's one of the coolest things I've ever read.

Welcome to the Folksy fold TKC! :) Mighty glad to have you with us. I am certain you will be most comfortable here amongst the rest of us slipjoint loving folks.

Its a fine place to learn and share with knives steeped in such a rich history. Great choices with Mr. Alsdorf and Mr. Halfrich. They both make lovely traditional cutting tools.. Perhaps you could share a photo or two sometime of your new slippies?. Its always so much fun to see all our members pocket wear!

Of course if you start hanging around here, you may feel the need to specialize in your collecting. Like say, a collection of trappers with a particular handle material. Or a collection by brand and particular pattern. Like Schrade muskrats, or Case peanuts. Yeah, peanuts. They make a nice collection. Theres stag peanuts, dyed bone peanuts, CV peanuts, even damascus peanuts.

No, I'm not biased toward peanuts, why would you think that.:)
