I got everything hooked up and no burning wire smells. I've got power going to the VFD controller but the motor isn't moving. Am I missing something in the programming? It's a Lenze AC tech controller model SM010s I'm running a 10k ohm pot on it.

Hopefuly this is the last question.

Cut the blue wire...the BLUE ONE! No, wait a minute...THE RED ONE! Just kidding. Do you have the dynamic braking option? If so, I think there's a bypass jumper or something that you have to connect if I remember right...one of my buddies had one of their controllers and it sounds like a familiar issue.

hmmm I've got "dc braking" option.... grrr this is aggravating. BTW I have no fluke or voltage meter to check voltages.

The 3 legs on the speed pot are all pretty much generic right? I hook up signal common on one, power on another and the 0-10v dc in the middle?

I was checking the manual online. It should be the same as the one that came with it. Is the control wired like 11.4 on page 21? It shows the pot wired to terminals 2, 5, 6 with the run contact between 11 and 1. It also says that if you're not using any presets you have to set "standard speed source (parameter 05) to 0-10 vdc (03). Have you done this?

That's the crux of the problem...... I have it wired like 11.4 except for the contact from 11 to 1, does that mean I need to wire in a jumper wire or a switch?

I've done the programming, no smoke no flames.....

Yes it needs some sort of "run" command. A switch should start it at wherever the pot is set.

sigh... so just a small rocker switch or something will do? I'm tempted to redneck out and use a clothes hanger and some duct tape to make a switch. just jam one end in the terminal and jam the other end in to the other terminal for my "run" command lol

:) I'm pretty sure your joking, but just in case...While I personally have done things like that (you'd think I'd have learned after the first few shocks) please don't. A jumper wire just to check and see if it's working would be ok.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY SUCCESSSSSS IT LIVES!!!!! IT LIVES!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Thanks Frosty and everyone else that has given me advice.

Well, at least I wasn't totally off with the jumper :D Congrats!!!!
