Horizontal Batoning

As much as I like creative thinking: why not just buy a log splitter?
That was a whole lot more work; than the conventional way of batoning...
You've still got to drive your blade into a pretty solid surface, and then hang onto it also.

But I like your theory!!

I'm not sure if it was more work than the vertical way. That wood was pretty tough. My original thought was that this is easier on your knife.

If you're desperate, sure, but an ax or wedge work better.
Agree. Prior to this I had the knife stuck in a larger piece of wood, had to fashion a wedge with my tomahawk to extract it. My hawk weighs 2x this knife, but did a much better job at busting up bigger logs. This technique is just another trick to have in your bag, of many.
