Hi, I'm a beginner here and need a hint what fixed blade up to 4" can I carry horizontally in a belt sheath (Kydex preferred) : Cold Steel Safe Keepers, CS Cullodens other brand ?

I have a camillus cqb that came with an excellent kydex sheath by blade-tech. It also included a tech-lock which allows you to carry the knife vertically or horizontaly. You might look at a cqb-2 if you want something in the four inch range. I am extremely pleased with mine.:D

welcome to BF! I recently purchased a fallkniven F1, and had a custom concealex sheath made by Eric at On/Scene Tactical... his name is Normark here on bf. I have it set up for diagonal belt crossdraw, as that seems to be the best mix of comfort and concealment, under a shirt or sweater. Good price for the quality of the knife. VG10 is one of my fav's, plus I like a more weighty feel to a knife, which is why I sold off my spyderco perrin. it was a bit too light, and the blade illegal for carry, plus the handle didn't fit my hand that well. The F1 is ideal for what I was looking for in an EDC FB.

If you want a high quality hand made at a good price check out Bob Dozier. Many of his knives come with a horizontal belt sheath. I carry a Straight Personal that has about a 3" blade in the horizontal position and it carries very, very comfortably there.

I have a BM model 140 NIMRAVUS, kydex sheath with atachments for all types of carry. If you want something under 4 inch blade, the NIMRAVUS CUB I believe has a 3.something blade.:p

Slide13 beat me to it... Yep, Bob Dozier. Makes arguably the best knife for the buck. Happens to have a very nice horizontal belt sheath too. You cannot go wrong, ever, with a Bob Dozier knife. Here's his addy: www.dozierknives.com

I may be wrong but may be Cold Steel Safe Keepers or Cullodens or Camillus CP77 with Quick-Draw Kydex seath can be carry horizontaly.
I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with these knives.

Greg Lightfoot made me a sheath attachment that works quite well for the Predator. I'm sure that's possible for his other models too, which are outstanding. I routinely have my leather sheaths made so backcarry is also possible and my favourite sheaths like that come from Wally Hayes MS, who obviously won't do just a sheath. his "Battlegear" looks really good and maybe they can work something up.

Welcome aboard. Except for large knives, I prefer carrying my fixed blades in the horizonal position. In fact, more oftent han not, if I'm afield and do not need a big knife, I'll have a Basix #5 on me in a kydex horizontal sheath. I also use a horizontal shetah in the small of my back for a Buck Nighthawk when appropriate.;)
