Had a guy ask about this: horizontal carry for the RC5 Kydex sheath. I have seen it carried like this with two screws, spacers and a large Tek Lock. Anybody tried this? Very secure? Mike

I've tried it, didn't like it on either the 5 or 6. It's secure for sure, it's not coming off the belt or dumping the knife. My problem was it flopped around too much, but that probably had more to do with the belt not fitting tight in the tek lock.

it works with the 6 very well for me, I think the heavier the knive is the less comfortably it gets...

before having my first ESEE knive (RC5) I was going to horizontal carry it with teklok, quickly changed my mind went i tried it but can easily be done too, mather of choice.. it was blocking some of my movement so i went for a molle back + accessory pouch on my leg side, thats my pref choice

I dont have a photo, but I've carried the 6 IWB canted about 45 degrees at 5 o clock or so. before. I used the molle locks and staggered one high and one low. Needs a thin web belt, but it was very discreet for such a large blade. A long shirt worked fine, and a hoodie could hide it no problem.

Looking at it... two tek locks may solve my problems on the 5. My issue was nose to pommel flop. 2 points of attachment should handle it.

what you need to do is soak some 550 chord for about 5 minutes and run it through the eyelets, so as you have parallel lateral lines on one side and longitudinal on the other. Tie it tightly. In this manner you can use the sheath interchangeably for horizontal or vertical carry without having to rearrange it. I do the same for my HEST, works superbly. very sturdy.

Single attachment points whether it be a Tek-Lok or whatever, generally don't offer much stability. The same can be said for holsters. A single attachment point, belt loop, clip, etc don't offer enough support.

As PR said, I would run 2 paracord belt loops as far apart as you can put them on the sheath. This will give the greatest support and keep the knife from rolling toward the heavy handle. Just my .02.
