Horizontal Grinder in my way

I love your build threads. I wish I could look at odd parts and figure out how to combine them into useful machinery like you do. Great job!

Thanks ! Using that kind of parts have some advantage ..they are free , and most important they are machined very precisely so at the end you have very little work with adjusting . . .
Here it is ,almost finished . I need to decide about stand .I have two option...to use motor as stand and plate with contact wheel to be tracking mechanism or to make some legs on plate and to move motor for tracking .As it is now I can use / with 2x42 belts / from less then half inch to 3 inch contact wheel which is more then I need .I need to cut ceramic glass for that two platen behind belt , to connect power and that is that .
I decide tracking to be in this way because in other direction drive wheel will tighten or loosen belt and because I have no spring to compensate that , it can be problematic.....This thing for tension works , I can tighten belt to sing as guitar strings .........

I use this two strong springs so that I do not depend only on the weight of the motor ........to keep it in place .

Finally ! It works guys and I like it .......speed is 11 m/s . I can see lot of things that can be done on this tool . Now whole plate with small contact wheel is tracking wheel , motor is fixed .It track perfectly with very little movement .....I make work rest adjustable in any direction I want .Plus I can change height where work rest is so I can use whole width of belts for say profiling blank , not one point of belt so belts will worn evenly ... I will make other one work rest for drive wheel side and one work rest for one flat side .I need to cut ceramic glass and that is it .......next project is to finish surface grinder and that is last tool I will make , enough is enough :)

Good job and glad to hear it works so well. I do really like your adjustable tool rest to use full width of belt. Good job there. I wish my tool rest was adjustable like that. As it is I have to move belt up on down to use more width of belt and can only use about 1/2 of width.

Natlek - never say "never". I can tell, you're too much like me and actually enjoy making tools :)

Thanks
OK , I was done with this ...........need to find something better then this rubber hose but this is how all will work ..........with time I will make other wheels as some job demand .But I doubt that I will need smaller wheels then this one ? I hope it is clear from pictures how all will work :)
For axle I use car engine valve , Intake one if that matters :D It is exactly on right dimension /8.00 mm./ and fits very tight ,need little force to push bearing so why not ? I just cut off that mushroom ..........

And just out of curiosity I try this ...........bearings on bearings :DI have a feeling that this way grinder run quieter, but no way ...all bearing should run on same speed , right ?

Well 2HP motor on this grinder is to much ..........I need that motor for other grinder so I cut almost in half this grinder and I make some changes . I used 0.75 HP 1400 rpm . mono phase motor and now i have this new horizontal grinder , tracking is prefect . Now I think that this is most simple and cheap way to make horizontal grinder and can be done with simple tools in shop...........
I hope the drawing clearly shows what I did

Did I mentioned how much I love my neighbors? It's not enough that I gave to everyone knife, now I'm changing handles on their old knives. This is the fourth just this week 😂
