how beneficial would it be to be able to do horizontal grinding. what is the benefit. is it very important. The radius master is able to do that but it only has a 2x42 belt with a variable speed 2hp motor. any comments!? thank you

Unless they have changed it, the Radiusmaster is a single speed unit and uses 2 x 48 belts. What do you mean by horizontal grinding? Do you mean laying the grinder over like an edge finishing grinder? That is how I use my Radius Master, but I only use it for rough profiling, primarily with wood.

yes i do mean lying the grinder over like an sdgae finisher. i am ready to by a KMG any time now but just double checking if something else catches my eye. ive looked at bader, the burr king, the grizzly and 1 more i cant think of. then i saw the radius master nad wanted to know what you all thought....thanks

I made straight blade knives for 20 some years and often wished I had asmall wheel setup more than sideways. Then came slipjoints and I laid one of my old Square wheel grinders on its side I have not found anything work better on the inside of guards and finger grooves. When it comes to folders and the inside of springs and tang kicks I'd never want to be without it. Ilooked pretty hard at Jancy but whynot have one for 72" belts, the belts don"t cost much more than the 48's, just my 2 cents.

When I finish my kmg clone, I plan to add a tool arm that you can grind on the side with. I posted the pics before but here they are again. It is pretty simple, I will make rounded plates that attach to it for small and large wheels if i get them.
