I made a mistake. The $40 belt sanders are for Swamp Rats. The ones on sale for $30 are for Scrap Yards. Jerry Hossum over on KF has some great tips on using these cheap sanders. An ordinary knife sharpening kit costs about as much. I practiced on cheap machetes until I felt confident enough to put a $400 Busse to the belt, but is has been well worth the meager investment. Busses aren't the only knives that only come with a simple utility edge. Most heavy duty military ones do too. If you are going to sharpen a HCLE, keep it cool. They heat up fast. That 154 CM takes a great edge, though.

I was excited to try out the HC, but i also was very displeased with the edge, it is sharp but looks completely unfinished. For a company that just makes knives without sheaths i thought the finish could have been much much better. just my 2 cents.

.... slice up a juicy tender Boston Butt on Sunday and there was no drag while slicing only parting of the pork!

They must have had Eric in the shop doing the sharpening so they could get all of them finished for Blade, never trust the "Bully"!!!!! LOL!!!

If the pork butt is properly prepared, you should be able to slice it with your fingers. I have trouble lifting mine off the smoker without having it fall apart in my hands. Now I'm geting hungry.

The edges on mine were utility sharp and toothy before I reprofiled and polished them but if it takes you more than a couple of hours you need to rethink your sharpening system.
