Horseman vs Commander

Get a Horseman, if you don't like it (you will) get all but $10 of your money out of it. I have a fresh NIB 2014 SF if you wanna' PM me.
 
Missed out on a horseman the other night. Now I have emerson on my brain.

Trying to decide between both of these models myself. I like the looks of the horseman and mini commander. Been on a knife addiction the past few weeks, but this will be my last purchase for a few months.

Problem is that I can only order one, so I need to decide. Both are great looking, but I really like the blade shape on the horseman. Now I just need one to pop up on the exchange.
 
While I have owned both the mini Commander and the horseman and I agree they are both stellar, but for your purpose the Commander is a clear winner. Why? You said you want to use it for firearm retention. I'm guessing you plan to wave it into action. In my experience, the commanders wave easier and more consistently. You can learn to wave an 8 consistently but it takes more practice.

Same here, had both and the Commander waves more easily and consistently. I no longer have any 8s, but still have a Commander and a mini. Considering sending the full size in for serrations.
 
Take a look at the PSARK. 3.5 inch blade, perfect ergos, and easy as hell to sharpen on a sharpmaker. Also $185@ knifeworks and snkw :-)

you will have to get both eventually. i just received my first cqc 8 and i like it more than my super commander. it carries much better because of the slimmer profile. i got mine in black combo edge, some knives just look great with the combo edge and the cqc8 is no exception.
