Hello sirs!

I've been lurking in this forum since I registered to BFC about a year ago, but didn't feel like posting here, I just read & learned. That year ago, I was a total noob concerning knives (not that I still don't have a lot to learn yet :o), but since then, I learned there are some pretty good knives I can get, made by some excellent makers. The best knife I ever used before, was the SOG NW Ranger in AUS6 steel. Not really bad, but there are better, much better. I wanted to buy some ESEE piece at first, but then got lucky to make enough money to afford two Busses (Active Duty and BOSS Jack), so I pulled the trigger on these.
Speaking Busse, I also learned quite recently what these knives actually are and how the company works. Just short before the Ganza, that's why I joined the event and got the BOSS Jack.

To me, all the forums, ESEE, Busse and this one show some really nice and warm relationships between the makers and customers, and outstanding customer service, to which specifically me, a guy from Central (politically maybe even Eastern :( ) Europe, is not used to at all.

What really struck me, were two posts from Porkbilly.223 and Paulinski saying they sold their Busses and changed to Hortons'.

I was eying the Camp Blood and some other Horton knives and still wasn't decided if I buy one - well now I know. It may not be soon, but the time will come. I like the no-nonsense functional designs.

Can you two gentlemen Porkbilly.223 and Paulinski tell me something more about your decision to sell all your Busses and going Hortons?

I will also be thankful for some info about how Jeremy works. I see a lot of Busse fans also in this forum - do Jerry and Jeremy have in common something else than making super tough high quality working knives? Do I get it right, that the superb properties of Jeremy's knives are achieved by excellent heat treat (besides using top quality steels, similar as Busse)?

Thank you for reading and for your answers!

Welcome to the Horton Forum!
Jeremy is a cool guy, honest, friendly and trustworthy.
If he makes you a knife,he will stand behind it Im sure.
I still have my Busse Knives, the way the market is,
if I sold them I dont think I would get the price I
bought them from Busse for.
Some of them I really like.

I will just buy more Hortons as money permits.
Horton Knives...
The beauty is in the design
As a bonus,
the Horton knife comes pre-sharpened! :)

(ps. feel free to post in Club Platinum thread any time.lotta fun in there)

Just email or call Jeremy with what you are looking for. I've waited more than a year for some knives and picked up others as he was making them (had them in a couple weeks). What I like about Jeremy's knives is that many/most are are 1 of a kind. He will do Camp Bloods but with different steels, thicknesses, grinds, handle material, etc. They are also tough as snot (Jeremy has metal flakes in his snot) and they have Platinum Edges. The community here is real too. The things people do behind the scenes is amazing. Everything from advice to gear is given/exchanged in an a extremely generous way.

Did I mention my car broke down?

LOL Fug, I thought you ran everywhere. I'll drop off transportation for you tomorrow.:D

For your question, Fug put it pretty well. Busse knives are great knives, you can't go wrong with a Busse or two. A few things turned me off of them though, things I won't get into. But then I bit the bullet and took the loss, sold all but one off.

I dig the Horton forum, love the Knives J puts out. All good people that hang in here, good people in the Busse forum as well. Just some really cool things J does, that very few other makers do. Sure it takes a lot of patience to get a Horton, but it's worth the wait IMHO.

I have had one or more (sometimes many more) knives by virtually all the production companies and many of the custom makers.

Generally, I'm happy with them all, because I get to pick and choose my personal favorites.

Horton knives? Right up there with the best; if its pure performance you're after, along with a clear personal vision (style), nobody does it better than young Mr. Horton. Where will he go next? Who knows??:eek:

And that's part of the fun.;)

Bushcraftbriantrust please stop showing off I do not have the money to keep up I have sold my nmfbm to fund the kraken and nmsfno for some others
I just had j make a damascus micro for my son he will be born soon almost yesterday but doc stoped it
Thanx j keep living the dream

Let me just say I have had a few Busse knives and they were great but I just love Horton knives more. Jeremey is one of the nicest guy's in the bussiness and his customer service is phenominal! I am only willing to spend my hard earned money on real people. That is why I will continue to support Jeremey any way that I can.

Mike

^^^ Simple stunning. That is one of my favorite Hortons.
.

+1:thumbup::thumbup:

Jeremy puts his soul into every knife he makes, you can see it, as you examine his blades, each one, even two of the same model, is unique and different. No matter the size or model you choose it will be a hard use blade. One of the members here splits wood with his necker, frequently from what I undersatnd!

One word - Awesome - the maker :thumbup::thumbup: - the knives :thumbup: - everything in between.

As to why I sold most of my Busses (I have one left but its Hortonized) - I find Jeremys knives are more to what I'm looking for in blades.

Great bunch of people here - this forum is the only reason I come here......
