Congrats Gravel,,, pretty cool for a dude with a vag in his leg,,,

The next step is a Board Interview.

5 members, a Lt, Sgt, and 3 officers....one of which is an old high school friend:D:thumbup::thumbup:

The Lt. suggest we wear a suit and tie to the interview......

Guess what Gravel DOESN'T own:o:grumpy:

So the company I currently work for is about to strike gold and become on of the largest....if not the largest LDAR companies.......insiders say it would be stupid to leave now.

At what point does one stop pursuit of their ideal job and stay with the one that pays more.....

3 dollar hour raise

7?

Do you look for future potential or what is in front of you?

Now that I can almost reach the police job I am actually concerned about leaving my current. I honestly wasn't expecting to pass the PT requirements and now that I have, I am nervous.

Way to go Gravel...

Options are good, if sometimes difficult.
Good luck on this next ''test''.

Thanks fellas!!!!

I did it in 14:01, 14:08 was my cutoff!

We had 1 minute for push ups and a minute for sit ups and a strech and reach (sit on the ground and reach over )

I did 58 push ups .....The next closest guy had 36 , one guy did 17....
and 45 sit ups. 15 more than the next fella.

Had to strech 14.5 inches and did almost 20".

My run sucks, the 14:08 is the Cooper 30 Standard any more and I would fail.....I really need to keep up running

Not a bad start though ;)

Congrats Jason!

And Enron was making tons of money for their investors

All you got to do is ask the Man, have faith, and listen  It won't be the wrong answer - I guarantee you

I had a similar opportunity years ago, and have never looked back at the "ideal" job I had

But then again - You already know the answer ;)

Strictly on job security the PD would be more secure than a private industry then again you might get shoot at ;)

j/k lol.

@Gravel: if you can make your payments on a PD salary,,, don't look back ! Not many people get to do what they really want to,,, if you need the extra money (who doesn't nowadays ?!),,, stick with your current job,,, it's all about what it's worth to YOU,,,

I live close to New Orleans...work even closer...I stand more of a chance getting shot at anywhere BUT the Police Dept.:D:thumbup::thumbup:

LDAR: Leak Detection and Repair for "Fugitive Emmisions" (leaking components) in Oil Refineries, Chemical Plants, Transport vessels/barges. Federally Regulated Programs

The regular hazmat job sounds pretty risky, too.

But some of those hazards' effects show up years later.

Tell me about it.

My grandfather retired from Dow.

He now has odd tumors springing up every few months.

It is something I think about a lot. I would rather a direct hazard than one that manifest 30 years later!!!

Here's some sound advice.

Don't put too much emphasis on where you are now. Instead, consider where you want to be 10 years from now.

I could still be a California country boy, you know. I took a different path.

thats no shit:)

follow your heart gravel. you can have money or happiness, but very rarely both

My young friend, it's quite possible to have a goodly amount of both, so long as you don't insist on nothing but money and happiness.

"Into each life" as they say.:);)
