Horton Knives - Official Car Thread

My wife doesn't want me to race it!!

I still may sneak off to the track some time. The mechanics and I expect it to run low 10's in the quarter-mile. Any faster and the track won't allow a car without an interior cage.

Low 10's wow that movin...

Its the cage mandatory at 11.99?

That would be like owning a Barrett, or 500 Mag or any other lurking beast and not shooting it, all that power just waiting.

Well, I get it out a couple of times a week, and there are some country roads nearby where I can let loose a little, but I haven't had it over 100 mph

Nice car. Have you had any engine problems yet? Two friends had them and raced them on tracks and they both blew up:mad:

I've never had a moment's problem (owned since new in '06). Mine is fairly intensively maintained. Were they E46 M3s? Were they actually "raced" - or just tracked?

AH, the family man has got you too now?

I don't know about BMW's. They do but I am into american cars. I know they both looked like yours and they were just taken to the track and run on the weekends. I am pretty sure it was during specific events though. Not completely sure. These guys maintained their cars though. They were pretty mad when there 50k cars blew up.

I can give them a call and find out if you are interested in specifics.

Not necessary really. I see a lot of ///M cars at the track but don't recall even seeing an engine failure among ///M engines. 99% of problems that I see are driver error that end like this:

Watkins Glen - too much speed into off-camber turn:

Summit Point Main - early apex:
