Had an awesome day today. Went shooting twice and went swimming at our local "beach". A sniper friend that I went through the academy with is staying with us for the weekend, so we've been having a good time. Here's some pics from our second range trip of the day. Apparently he's better with a rifle than a camera, because this is the only picture he got of me shooting the Barrett:confused:

Here's a video of him shooting a Barrett .50 cal

here he is with a precision AR build(tactical innovation lower, rock river upper, nightforce optic)

Here's a pic I snapped of one of my better groups of the day. This was with the Rock River varmint AR and factory ammo at 200 yds. The use of a finger isn't exactly scientific, but it shows scale :o I haven't shot precision rifles for years and I'm not a precision rifle buff, so I thought I'd post a pic for you "precision savvy" guys to see what you think.

eta sorry for the crappy pics(I really need to take a photography class from mike)

Rick you have me drooling with envy being able to have access to them type of great guns.

Mike

You and any other Hortonite are welcome to swing by and shoot any of the weapons. Here are some more pictures that we took yesterday before shooting. This is the supressed 9mm m16 and an 11.5" m16 in 5.56.

it turns out that there was more than one camera rolling, so another guy caught me shooting the barrett. good thing to because with those hot hand-loads I didn't feel like doing too many takes. the semi auto version with mil surp ammo is about 50% less recoil  No kidding, this thing is absolutely unpleasant to shoot. my sniper buddy's issue rifle is a 7mm rem. magnum and it feels like a pellet gun next to this thing.

Large, does this mean you won't be deer hunting this fall with the .50?....Lol.
Really though, that is very cool, if not extreme.

Rick I have never shot a 50 but can imagine the recoil. My long range gun is a Weatherby Mark 5 accumark in 300 mag.I have only used it to hunt Caribou but have killed 7 with it. from 80 to 419 yards 1 shot and they never took another step.

Excellent report Big Man  Keep it up!

You buy your 13 YO son a 308 and then a measly G22 for you ;):D

Anybody tried .300 whisper in the AR.

I think the only change is the barrel and gas tube.

Hmmmmm

Well got up early and went and got my Gen 4 Glock model 22. I really like this over the Gen 3. I sold my gen 3 to my son. He is almost 24 now. By the time he was 14 I had bought him a compond bow, 308 rifle and a remington 870 in 20 gauge. He keeps telling me I need to buy him a Horton...lol I tell him after 4 years of putting him through college he should be buying me one a month!
