The release is the shield.

Great knives, Hoskins made the thinnest D/A pieces that I have ever seen. I traded for a couple of them a few year ago and they were both as close to flawless as you can get. Unfortunately I don't think he is making knives anymore and they rarely show up on the secondary market.

These are the only two I have seen of his.
Jim Summers does similar work and I have a few of his pieces.
Anyone have any other info on Hoskins?
