Please use this thread to post information about particularly good deals on knives.

For example, when Delta-Z was shutting down, they had some great deals on their folders (prices reduced by 70% in some cases). When TAD Gear stopped carrying Steve Corkum knives, they were selling their remaining knives at below cost

I go to a site called www.hotdealsclub.com. The readers send in really good deals, and I've often found RAM, hard drives, and LCD panels at below the best price on PriceWatch.com.

Having a similar thread here on BladeForums would be useful, as there's no way for any one of us to keep aware of all of the really good deals that pop up on occasion.

I figured I'd try to find some hot deals to get this thread going.

My first step was to try and compare a bunch of retailers. Here's a web page that compares the prices of several retailers on several different knives. The first conclusion that leaps out to me is that it sucks to be British.

The retailers were:
1 Stop Knife Shop (our host)
2 The Hilt
888 Knives R Us
A. G. Russell
Bayou LaForche Knife Works
Best Knives
Bladez
British Knife Collectors Guild
Knife Center

The knives were:
Benchmade B43 Balisong
Camillus Aftermath Assisted Opener (Pre-order)
Camillus Cuda Maxx Bowie
Camillus Cuda Maxx Stiletto
CRKT Kit Caron M16 Special Forces
Spyderco Endura
Spyderco Meerkat

Here's the report in HTML:

Price Comparison

Here's a semi-legible version in text:

Ignoring the British shop, the price variation top to bottom for each model was:

Benchmade B43 Balisong
28%
Camillus Aftermath Assisted Opener (Pre-order)
0.3%
Camillus Cuda Maxx Bowie
25%
Camillus Cuda Maxx Stiletto
12%
CRKT Kit Caron M16 Special Forces
17%
Spyderco Endura
22%
Spyderco Meerkat
14%

None of these were marketed as extra special good deals, so I'm a little bit surprised by the variation. If you bought all of these knives, you'd save around 20% by going to the cheapest retailer ($538.21 versus $646.780.

$287.48 at Discount Knives.

I added two new knives (Gerber Chameleon II, serrated edge and Leatherman Wave with leather pouch) and two new retailers (Walmart and Amazon). I was curious to see how the non-knife retailers would do against the knife retailers. The biggest problem is that they basically have no selection.

Current Price Comparison

Gerber Chameleon II

$24.96 Walmart
$27.00 Discount Knives
$27.95 Knife Center
$28.19 Bayou Lafourche Knife Works
$28.95 Best Knives
$29.99 One Stop Knife Shop
$31.49 Amazon

Leatherman Wave
$59.99 Amazon
$64.88 Walmart
$64.95 Knife Center
$69.99 One Stop Knife Shop
$72.25 Discount Knives
$72.25 Bladez.com
$74.95 2 The Hilt
$74.95 A. G. Russell
$74.99 Bayou Lafourche Knife Works
$78.95 Best Knives

Whenever you do a price comparison, search this forum to see people's experiences with the lowest-price dealer....

Seki Cut has a Darrel Ralph design, 2.625" AUS-10 blade, anodized titanium frame with shell inlays. Typically the sell for around $149, and have a list price of around $190.

Knifeworks.com has a sale on the Gold, Blue, and Silver rhinos (different shells) for $106.99.

They also have Inova X5's on sale for $35.50, which is about $10 less than you usually will see. I have one of these (well, had it until my wife stole it), and it's a nice, easy to carry light.

You can sign up for regular mailings from William Henry and A. G. Russell. Usually the A. G. Russell mailing has something interesting, since in addition to listing specials, they also list seconds (knives that have some minor cosmetic problem at a substantially reduced price) and consignment custom knives. This week they didn't have anything very interesting.

The William Henry mailing had a pointer to their latest collectors editions. All you need to do is create an account to see these knives, which are special versions of their standard knives. They have 20 knives this month.

One that caught my eye due to my fondness for the Icon, was this collaboration with engraver David Perdue:

For tonights pricing project, I thought I'd find out about Sebenza pricing. CRK has done a great job (for them) of maintaining constant pricing on their knives throughout the retail environment:

Large Classic Sebenza

Knifeart.com $345
Bestknives.com $310
1StopKnifeShip $345
Nordic Knives $345
MD Enterprise $325
Knifecenter $345
K. C. Knife $344.99
Chris Reeve $345
Retting.com $325
Arrow Dyn. $325
True North $345
888KnivesRUs $335.99
Knife Outlet $345
Plaza Cutlery $345
Hunt America $325
Midwest Gun X $345

That's fairly amazing consistency. Not so good for a knife customer trying to find a deal.:grumpy:

When I started this, following up a different thread by Diamond Cut II, I didn't think I'd be the only person posting.

If you spot a good deal, please post it here.

If you hunting for a Microtech, you might want to drop a line to Robert, owner of M & B's Fine Gifts. I have bought 5 off of him so far and each one couldn't be beat in price no matter where I checked. He also accepts PayPal:

Benchmade has recently reduced the list price of the 73x Ares to $140. It looks like many online retailers have not updated their prices yet (just compare how much % off list they give for other models), but those that did often end up with real good prices (also well below current Ebay prices). Looks like a good deal to me. I'm very happy with mine.

Oshman's has the Buck 560, a Ti version of the 110, for 40.00 last time I checked. Great deal! Not sure if ALL Oshman's has 'em as no two have the same products where I'm from.

Camillus has a number of knives on sale that they are closing out on their online store: Camillus Closeout Knives.

Knifename Reg. Sale %
Cuda Claw $170 $40. 76% off
3+"Hunter $50. $20. 60% off
Celluloid $45. $19. 58% off

and so on. I've abbreviated the names to get the columns to line up.
