Hey folks, i see a lot of interest over the 1311, anyone know anything about the steel on this?

Hot Diggity Dog Dagger?

it's the third one down...

I like it, and it's the right price... interested in more info/opinions.

I already wrote Naomi to see if she can throw one of these in the box with my TGLB to save me the shipping.

I'd like to know more about that steel to...I didn't notice it wasn't SR-101 until you asked...

and the 411 is up over there..... oh wait, I should have started a new thread for that my bad :D:foot:

the only thing i know about that steel is that Kershaw uses the better versions 13C26 and 14C28N in their knives and i think they used to use 12c27 in some of their knives. I would think that it's probably not as good as 14c28n, but i really don't know

Hmm... well, i assume we still get the bussekin guarantee, so that alone might make this the better steel ;)

Who is Naomi?

Found this on matweb:

Sandvik 12C27 is a martensitic stainless chromium steel with an optimized analysis for high quality professional knife applications.
After heat treatment the composition of carbon and chromium gives a unique combination of properties including:

Very high hardness
Good corrosion resistance
Very high wear resistance
This grade is suitable for:

Hunting and fishing knives
Pocket knives
Skate blades and ice drills
Information provided by Sandvik

ASTM 420; EN 1.4034, 1.4037

Not specific to Busse, but looks like a decent steel for an inexpensive, double edge, boot knife (for which, i've been looking!) Timing is good.

ADDED:
Looks like the heat treatment is the make or break, so maybe Jerry has another winner here?

I will say this, Jerry is way behind, look at all the new releases over at the yard, it is off the hook, he can make up for it by just releasing the LBNMSHBM

Pocket book is still recovering from the last few busse's (hence excitement over a <40 dollar knife ;)), but that aside...    to the LBNMSHBM

I'm actually pretty tickled about this! I've been wantin' it since it was announced at Blade! Only wish they other colors were an option.

Well, my order is in. Would have liked green or sage, but hey... i can always duracoat it myself.

The nice part is, that steel is supposed be a good "stainless," so stripping is a better option than with the SR-101s. Maybe i'll satin it myself.

yeah they are actually nice little blades, I have one that was proxied for a friend of mine, I have yet to give it to him so I got to check it out, really sweet blade and razor sharp. I am pumped for the 411, and am glad they went with Mudders, gonna make a perfect sidekick to the 1311 btw who is making sheaths for that one :eek::eek::D

Hmmm...

More people interested in knowing about Naomi than the new bussekin

nothing wrong with that

After her name was questioned I was thinking it was someone trying to pull a scam or something...

So Naomi IS a real Busse-gal right??

Thanks

Yes, she is. I've talked with her several times about my upcoming orders.
I think that the Bossman needs to introduce her to us here on the forum sometime soon... :)

Oh ok, good. Thanks!

Again, I'm just hoping they can throw both knives in the box and save me the shipping...not to hi-jack but does anyone know if the cross-company shipping will be an issue?

Thanks
