Indeed you may ask. "Now what is he on about?"
The new Osage Orange wood 73s thats's what!
2 days ago I saw 2 available on line. That was before any "just finished" came up on the GEC site.
Now I see several dealers have them available but lots are sold out.
Thankfully I have the impetuous pouncing skills of a starving leopard.
Otherwise I might have missed out.
I have been wanting to sample more of GEC s wood offerings and Osage has been growing on me ever since the 81 Abilenes were released.
The 73 is a personal favourite and with Osage Orange is just too good to pass up.
The wait begins.

I was noticing the same thing meako. I looked at a couple of online sources. Went back and was like, wow!

They do look nice, those new #73's in O^2. I gotta' ask meako, what's a "cold tinney?"

Please be sure to stay focused on the knives and not the purchasing process.
Just a reminder.

Wow Bob!!

I honestly was never really into the osage, pics online just didn't do it for me.

...but your pics and the knife itself have changed my opinion BIG TIME!!

That is one of the nicest knives i have ever seen.

Thank you Jon. The Osage feels like iron. Very hard wood. Feels like it's going to be very durable. This new run has a very strong pull like the earlier runs. About an 8. And a gator snap closure. Feels very good in the pocket.

Congrats on that knife, Bob!:thumbup:
I agree with Jon; those are fabulous and persuasive photos you posted. I keep telling myself I'm not really a single-blade knife kind of guy, but I sure like the looks of plenty of them, and I somehow have ended up with several 1-bladed knives that I actually like a LOT and carry frequently (for example, a chestnut bone Case Sodbuster Jr. ;);)).

any one of you fellows need any Osage Orange just let me know...I've got a 10 a.piece that is covered with it !!! Ya it feels like Iron..it throws sparks when you cut it and will burn the bottom out of a wood stove..

:D Glad you're liking that Soddie Jr Gary. I can go either way with many knives. I like knives with more than one blade, but what I really don't like it for example, a two bladed knife in which the secondary blade protrudes so far up, it really throws off the complete ergonomics of the handle shape. Many handles fit very comfortably in your hand, but add another blade that stands up proud in the handle and it changes everything about the feel of the knife. If that's the case, I prefer a single blade. I have one knife in particular that I sent off to Glennbad here to modify into a single blade for that very reason.

That's a nice one, Bob! I remember this particular wood in east Texas back in the early 1970s. Tough, hard, dense wood, great for knife handles! Don't burn worth a hoot but sure is tough!

Thanks Perry. I had been waiting for the single blade 73 to come out. I never really considered the Osage Orange wood covers in the past on other patterns but when I saw this release I figured I'd give it a go. I'm liking it so far. Aside from feeling like iron, it also feels like a very light weight material.
