Hotmail?

I can't log onto my Hotmail(primary) e-mail account...it keeps putting me into a new signon account for Live.

Any help?

I get that....but it won't let me "register" my old account. I have over 2,000 messages in that account, spanning over 10 years.

I'm starting to get steamed.

I sometimes just delete the web address and type "www.hotmail.com" then log in as normal...
 
Me, too. The system appears to be f**cked. There's always Yahoo, or Google.... Tell Gates to perform an impossible act on himself.
 
I know what you are talking about, it keeps happening to me too. It keeps asking for your email and password over and over, something on their end must be messed up. Try logging on tomorrow.

If it's been over a month since you last logged in, you're up a creek. Only thing you can do is login on the new screen with your old info and get a blank as new account.

Join the club. One time Hotmail deleted all of my (years of) messages because of a glitch and was "unable to help."

FWIW neither gmail nor yahoo have EVER deleted a single email without me doing it on purpose. IIRC yahoo is now effectively unlimited storage while gmail is 7 and counting gigs indefinitely. If you're going to use something like hotmail that is notoriously erase prone then you'd better get a program like thunderbird or outlook.
 
Sorry about the Hotmail troubles. I really can't recommend Gmail enough. 7GB+ storage, great interface, a ton of tools...
 
I have a hotmail account just for logging onto live messenger, but neither is working.

Gmail is superior for email, IMO. But losing your message history is terrible. Hope they figure it out.

When were you last able to log on? I have not been able to log on for a while now- weeks.
 
I just went to my account with no problems at all. Not sure quite what to tell you. :confused:
 
I had trouble with that once. I contacted support, and they helped me fix it. I can not remember how. I think it was dumping the Hotmail cookies. It was something simple like that.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Obviously it was a system wide problem....all is well now, but it does give one pause.

Rat, how would I migrate the more important e-mails to another account like Yahoo as a block, rather than doing it one-by-one?

Doing it piecemeal could take the better part of a day, and that just seems less than ideal.

now that windows live and hotmail merged, setup a POP account in outlook on your computer. I did it with my gf's.
 
I dont know how to move them all at once But I would Very heavily recommend using Gmail over yahoo. It is very reliable. I have been using Gmail for 5 years I usually check it 2-5 times a day 6 days a week and have for the last 6 years. Never had a problem.

When you set up the POP and SMTP account it will download all your emails to outlook express on your computer.

I'm happy you're all up and running again. Looking at the time stamps on some of these posts, it's pretty obvious that we've got some serious insomniacs around here!
