First off, this is not a complaint or rant thread...!
I placed an order for 4 handles on the 15th. All are special order.
I haven't received them or heard from House yet, so I called them today.
I talked with Chris and he was very kind and apologetic. He said he was swamped with special orders and was way behind.
I told him that I understood and to just get them to me when he could.

Its nice to know that their so busy.
This axe thing has gotten nuts! I bet they have never been so busy.

I'll be placing on order with them in the next week for a cruiser axe handle unless I luck out and find one locally. Doubtful though. My order won't be special so hopefully it'll go faster if I end up ordering.

Actually, this makes me feel good.

Good to know some businesses are doing good.
I've been to 2 estate sales today, both are older couples that can no longer afford their home.

There is a silver lining to every cloud.

Good news. They have done well by me. I like you Bear hunter have no issue with a little wait. Much rather wait a little and get a good product, which is what I got last time I orderd from them.

This is weird, last week I ordered and had three AA, select, octagon, no varnish handles within 5 days. I will say that the octagon'ing was crooked on one, but still useable.

The 32" handles are not part of their product list. He's got to special make them.

The guys at the Bushcrafter USA, Edged Tools sub forum are a another large group of axe nuts. I'm one of them. They are also ordering from HouseHandle.com. They have a group that calls themselves "The Axe Mob" They are keeping House handle busy also.

I just accept that there's gonna be a little fine tuning with an octagon handle. They get them pretty good before they leave the store but there's always room for improvement. If they had to make each one perfect the cost would be triple. I'm happy with things as they are.

I am another one adding to the backlog, I put an order in for three handles last week. I do not have a problem waiting for a quality product and look forward to when these do arrive.

I tried octagoning myself and it was difficult. I think they do a really good job at House. Though my recent handle acquisitions have been local Maine made ash handles. $10.

It is what an extra buck for the octagon. They are not a perfect octagon, but they remove a lot of wood for ya. There is no handle that I hang for myself that doesn't get some modification to the grip. In a matter of minutes a guy can make that octagon perfect. From scratch it is much longer. More than worth it for me and even if it was perfect I would still be changeing things.

Just got my house handle order in. I placed it on 1/25 and received it today 2/6, that is pretty good turn around time in my book. Will definitely be purchasing more handles in the future.

I ordered a cruiser and two 30" double bit handles, all with octagonal shaping, no lacquer and grain within 20 degrees of vertical, AA select grade. They delivered exactly what I requested and I am very pleased with the product I received. I will most definitely be ordering from them again in the future!

It's been a month!
I called them today and they haven't even turned the damn things yet...

BS... :(

I won't make this mistake again!

This thread is about to turn into a frekin' rant thread... Im pissed

If your pissed now, just don't try to find any pieces for an AR-15.

It seems like everyone is out of everything these days.
I had a blow out today on my 2002 Ford Taurus, it isn't special. I have cheap tires on it.
However, I had to go to 3 different places to get a tire for it.

Whats going on? I think everyone in the USA is running their business on a shoestring and bubblegum budget.
The world is scared.

Glad I don't drive, own an AR which needs parts (or any AR, for that matter ;)), or buy axe handles.

I ordered four 30" octagons from House last Wednesday. I received them today, exactly one week after being ordered.

I ordered Grade AA and didn't pay to have them hand selected. Three of them have good grain alignments and one isn't as good. Two of them are very straight and two of them have some bow in them. The octagoning isn't as precise as I'd like but I figured on that going in since I've ordered from them before.

I've just finished cleaning one up. I removed the factory lacquer in the process of straightening the octagoning. I'm going to try to straighten the bow in this one by hanging some weight on it while soaking it with BLO for a few days. I'll report back.
