Why would you wear body armor to church ?
I assume O.P. is dancing around the idea that he is tasked with responding to shootouts.

So he is tooled up to defend the place while giving first aid to the victims.

If you are going in to a place that you are likely to receive gunfire. I think body armour is a reasonable precaution.

Look, I probably gave diamdave diamdave a hard time, but he's not wrong to think about preparedness.
The strategy to always be prepared for every situation isn't practical, and he can't reasonably have everything he'll always need on him.

If Dave's got anxiety about providing first aid to a trauma victim at his church, Dave should make sure they have:
1) a plan for an active shooter situation
2) several well stocked first aid kits (with trauma sheers)
3) formal first aid training for as many congregants as possible

Where our pocket knives enter into this? is way down the list.

That's the secret, JB, it's always been a prac tac thread.

Anxieties about personal preparedness for an unlikely and very specific situation leading to discussions of how our mutually favored tool can be incorporated as a planned mitigation strategy, even though other strategies are far more practical.
I agree. But I tend to work two ways. I will mention that the premis isn't great.(Which has been done) But I also not in charge of how they chase their own destinies.

If they want to decend down that route I will help them do that the best way they can.
