We should all just pool our money and buy a town somewhere :)
Dan, we are electrical contractors and have commercial and wholesale accounts to buy just about anything so there was no mark up on materials. I live in Oklahoma City now but the place im talking about is a desolate corner of kansas where I used to live. Most all residential housing is at least $120.00 a sqr ft. Low income HUD homes are going for $90,000 minimum starting price(for 1250sqr ft) and up. They are selling before the contractors can finish them. A small lot in a crappy part of towngoes for atleast $10,000.

wow and I thought things were going out of sight here:o

Oklahoma City... Cool, I have a good ole Navy buddy that lives in Ponca City
:) he has to go to Oklahoma City to the VA Hospital there fairly often.

Except for nails and saw blades and sweat I will have next to nothing in framing up, or sidding for that matter. I'm planing on lap siding and giving it a good soak with tompson's water seal before painting. Oh and I will have to buy pressure treated lumber for bottom rails. I will poor the slab for a brick ledge for posible future brick work.

I'm planing a two bedroom 900-1000 square foot house with posibility of expansion later if need be.

I had thought of a house trailer but lived in one for a while as a kid and want something a little stronger and something that will apreciate not depreciate.

Mark, I'll email you when I get up and running with the plans, I loaded them on my lap top so that when I'm on the rig I can work on them since I can't work on knives there.

Hello Will

If you are going to do a lot of the work yourself, you may want to get a copy of the book "Working Alone, Tips & Techniques for Solo Building" by John Carroll. He is a building contractor who does a lot of work alone. He gives a lot of tips and techniques that make working alone possible, faster and safer. He covers all aspects of building the structure of the house, from foundation work to roofing and finishing the interior. The book is published by Taunton press (the same people who publish "Fine Homebuilding" and "Fine Woodworking"). The cover price is $17.95. I got a copy at Half Price Books for $7.98.

I admire your spirit and courage in taking on such a task.

Phil
