How’d I do on this purchase?

When I first learned about knives, this was the first nice knife I discovered. That was years ago, and I never found. Well today I found one at a pawnshop. It does look like somebody’s trying to sharpen it, without doing too much harm. The heel has a little bit of over grinding.

bench mate 940 Dash 1 Osborne carbon fiber with Axes lock.

They had it listed for $180 USD, I try to get it for $150 but all they would do is take the taxes off. So did I do all right for 180 bucks? I never thought I would buy one of the deck of the years, but this one’s a beautiful blue standoffs in a carbon fiber.

I can’t post my pictures right now. I’ll post them when I get home

BenchMADE* :)

It's a solid knife. 180 bucks doesn't seem too bad, but we don't know the extent of the "damage" done by the previous owner.

Yep, in good shape that's a solid price for a great knife.

The 940-1 used to be the benchmark in my collection for anything around that size. It "fired" several knives when it arrived, and several more didn't get purchased because they couldn't beat its combination of blade length and slim overall for factor.

OK let me see if I can get these pictures up. These are from when I got in the car.

I got a little discouraged when I noticed that the “termination plunge” or the top of the bevel looks a little wavy, as it runs from now heel to the tip.

Does it look like the edge has those factory grind marks to anyone? Of course anyone can grind perpendicular to the edge, but many of my factory nice to have all those lines.

I also noticed it prefers the left side. Now this is a access lock so I don’t know what kind of pressure could be being put on it. I’m not gonna take it apart until I know more

Good steel, looks as if it’s in good shape to me, has the box. From what I can see in your pictures it appears you got a great deal on your grail knife. Congratulations sir!

Dude I've got $500 knives I've never inspected that closely. Your choices are to keep the cheap one because that's the only one at that price or buy a new one at full price. Just use it.

Very nice knife. But Dude....it's an AXIS lock.
Not an Axes lock, not an Access lock.
Please....my brain..lol

My bad lol. I was dictating that post via my phone. It makes a lot of mistakes, and I normally check it. I just forgot. I'll edit it here soon. I'm familiar with the Axis lock and its history. I will say, it's a lot easier to unlock than my Manix 2. Thanks for

Does the Osborne symbol picture concern anybody?
It does me. I was in a hurry, when I saw it. It looks awfully faded. Please post anything that looks off. Now I'm scared to go look at specs, but I better. I normally do a lot of research before buying something like that. Especially if it's something often counterfeited. I was limit by nego at $150, but I was in a stupid good mood.

It's hard to return something to a Pawnshop, but they did sell this as a Benchmade. I'm feeling a little dumb bout now. Hope I got lucky

You got a very nice knife at a good deal.
You ll have a hard time beating that kind of deal in the future.
Congratulations.
