Here is a pattern I used to carry waaay back when.. Personally this brings me back to the late 1970's early 1980's. And back then I got paid on Friday afternoon and was broke by the following Tuesday or Wednesday because of my prowess for the ladies, if'n you no what I mean. So, I got my mileage out of all my tools back then, especially my pocket knives.. I loved this pattern because of its very slim frame. It carried very comfortably like a single blade because of its one back-spring but had the versatility of slipjoint with a second blade for back-up..

Here is one I just picked up fresh out of the Post Office Box from a very cool little web site that a nice fellow runs in Nevada. An Eye Brand in sambar stag with carbon steel blades, mirror polished springs, brass liner, nickel silver bolsters and a really cool etch of Elks in the mountains.. This is my new pocket EDC.

So how about it?. Got any Canoe's you can off here for us all to enjoy?.:)

I posted this Case stag canoe on this forum recently, but I'll paddle it back into the stream of this thread. :) I also have a small Eye Brand canoe somewhere, but I can't find it right now to photograph.

Here's the 1998 Case:

The Canoe is a great pattern.
Pocket friendly, thick blade, thin handle, spear point blade...the hits keep on comin :D

Here's mine.
I picked this photo because it is recent.
This Queen D2 Canoe gets carried a bunch.
The bone scales have become translucent, the dark 'paint' in the hollows is wearing out and the &^% blade etch is gone :D

I've got a Queen birdseye maple Canoe in my pocket right now. Been carrying it for a few weeks. It took some work on the Sharpmaker to get the D2 blades how I wanted. The birdseye scales are really nice. Nicer than cocobolo in my opinion. I'll post pics in a bit.

I'm by no means a slipjoint expert or even collector, but my favorite pattern is the canoe. I have several, carrying an older 1970's model for a while, but it's been surplanted by a cheap Boker Bonsai in the same canoe pattern. I prefer the slimness of the Queen with the single back spring, but the bonsai is much smoother with good snap, though the queen walks n talks better.

I have a Queen Canoe with Winterbottom scales and a D2 blade that I like a lot.

Boker Tree Brand and a Queen 1095 here, both in antique green bone. Like 'em a lot. Love those slim knives!

I find myself up the river without a canoe  . Fortunately, I can enjoy the great examples shown here :) . Thanks.

Nice bunch Gramps, and everyone! Canoes are the best EDC slippie!

Boy oh boy, what a great bunch of Canoe's you guys have here. This thread is turning out to be a great place to get my Canoe fix.:D

Case xx 1970's in red bone.. sorry for the lousy photo.

Nice one sunnyd. The case jigged bone, especially red, is my favourite handle material for older case knives. Even nicer than stag imo.

Thanks S-K. I too very much like the old red bone. This one is quite elegant. The photo in that last post does not do it justice but it goes into a sort of red and cream swirl down near the bottom of the front scales close to where it meets up to the back spring. You can just make it out..

I must admit I do like stag an awful lot though. For instance..

Hi Sunnyd. Yeah... I can definitely see your point. Perhaps I was too hasty in forming my conclusion. I am afraid that I will require many more examples before I can make any sort of decision on this topic.

That last one...is it called a:
Musknoe?
Canrat?
Moosnoe?

Me like that one :D
And stag too :D :D

Pant! Slobber! Drool! Is that an early "Cripple Creek" Cargill?????????????????????????????????????????????

If I wasn't afraid of ALLIGATORS:eek: , I'd be down there banging on your door with a fistful of trade goods:D !
Do you like shiny beads????????!!!!:D :D :D

Not as well dressed as sunny's thread opener, but hopefully interesting;
First is almost an anti-canoe; it's heavily built, in Sheffield with a thick hollow ground master, and two pen blades; sorta like a Battle canoe.

Next, slim and purty like good EDCs oughta be.

And finally a fleet of various sizes.

I've said it before and I say it again:
After seeing all of these beautiful treasures up here, I NEED a canoe.
Haven't even fondled a single one yet...
