How about a carbon steel 110?

I've recently purchased a couple of Case knives, a 6165 folding hunter and a 3318 medium stockman. I really love the steel! I hadn't used carbon steel blades in quite a while and had forgotten how keen an edge they will take. I like the folding hunter, but it's just not as versitle as the 110. I sure wish I could have a 110 with a CV blade. Any one else every wished for something similar?

I would be quite happy if 1095 was the next new option for the custom shop. Nice and hard. 65 or so.

Heh heh

I like 1095 not just because its a good steel but because it's such a basic and symbolic one. I want to have an option that covers the far end of Carbon steel. D2 is good stuff, but it's not quite what I am looking for in a Carbon steel option.

So yeah, me too...

1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095 - 1095

How about 52100 or 5160, perhaps forged as Hoyt would have done it:D I think a D2 is a realistic option,as Buck has already done a run of 118's in D2:thumbup:

As much as I like the 1095 idea, D2 would be a pretty good alternate for sure.

Carl, with a rockwell of 65 or so how difficult is it to sharpen?

I don't think I'd care if it was 1095, D2. 52100. The idea of a 110 in a good carbon steel makes me very exited!

But I would love 1095.

I'd love 1095 even more in a 55!

I wonder if we got enough people could we get a "run" of them?

A 110 with a 55, both in 1095. Or whatever gets voted on.

Theres nothing like a pair.

I'd buy one or two if they made a run. Hey Joe, what do you think? How many would you need to have committed for to produce a small run?

Sign me up, I'd go for a pair...not crazy about standard handle material...but it wouldn't stop me from getting a pair. A 110(think about the 111, as the bolsters on it and the 55 are the same) and 55 with carbon steel:eek: that would do it for me. Preston
