How about a new picture posting thread?

Short descriptive labels would be great. Let's do this.

Where do I learn how to post pictures?

That is an excelent idea.

If you want to post pictures without purchasing a membership try using www.photobucket.com it's really easy to use. Even I can do it and I am the farthest thing from tech savy.

How do you post the pictures so that they don't have to be expanded (appear full size), all of mine are attachments that need to be clicked on to view them, thanks.

What I do is click on the attachment. That brings it to a new window. Copy the address. The use the mountain looking button (Image) and enter address into that section. Man I can't explain crap lol

The above is an example only missing the [ in the front. Click image, copy addy past and put and around it minus the spaces. If this didn't help, sorry  :footinmou

Here's how I explained image posting to another forumite. Hope this helps...

I will try to explain it as best I can. However, a lot of the process depends on who "hosts" your pictures.

Forgive me if I simplify things too much -- I don't know how familiar you are with computers. I'll try to explain it the way I hoped someone would have explained it to me when I was learning.

1. The first step is to get your pictures prepared for the internet. This means that you should modify your image in a program like Adobe Photoshop or another picture editing program.

I typically save my pictures at a width of 500 or 600 pixels.

Click "File" then "Save for Web" and hit OK for the rest of the questions. Name your picture something unique but memorable, like "ratweiler1.jpg".

Once it is saved, the image should be 150KB or less. Any larger and dial-up internet users will have to wait for a very long time for it to load.

2. You will need a "hosting" service. Right now your image is stored on your computer, but for a website to display an image, it must be stored on a computer that is constantly "online" and otherwise set-up to share this image.

I have heard people in this forum mention free image hosting services like Photobucket and ImageShack. You will need to set-up an account and follow their instructions for transferring your images to their computers.

Once this is done, you should be given a URL or address to where your picture is. It would look something like this (without the quotes) "http://www.hostingservice.com/users/youraccountname/ratweiler1.jpg".

3. Once your picture is "online" then you will simply need to insert one into a post using the appropriate "tag". By clicking the "Image" button on the posting screen you will open up another window asking for the URL of the image. Copy and paste or type the URL to your image and hit enter.

You will then see something like this in the text of your message. (without the asterisks "*")

[*IMG]http://www.hostingservice.com/users/youraccountname/ratweiler1.jpg[/IMG*]

4. Hit the "Preview Post" button to ensure that it is working.

Hopefully this helps out. If you have any other questions, or if I didn't explain something very well, just let me know.

Good Luck!

It sounds like I need to have my pictures hosted online somewhere instead of pulling them from a file on my computer. I think there are some free sites out there, any suggestions? Thanks.

photobucket.com I have two accounts with them :D

And when you upload your pics, all you have to do is copy and paste (into BFC thread/post) the img addy. Should be third one down.

Great pics so far in the "nothing but pics" thread. Let's keep that bad boy a rollin'. I've got a few more here somewhere I'll post later on

:D:D

I am enjoying the "Nothing but pics" thread. I only wish I had more blades to justiy taking a picture. Someday you hogs will feel my breath at your backs. You'll be at the trough one day and I'll spring on you.

Great pics so far, but I know that there are some real unique pieces out there that haven't been posted. Come on now and keep it going

I'll have to get my other computer running again. It crashed and had more pics on it. Hopefully should have more pics tomorrow.
