How about a small'ish Becker?

There's a pretty big gap between the BK11 Necker, and the BK2. A gap not just of a few inches of blade length but of weight and thickness.

How about a Becker with about a 3.75" blade and handle scales? (Think RAT RC-3) Something that might appeal to the Bushcraft or EDC crowd.

You're asking for something I've asked for before. I — and a number of other people — think a blade like you're talking about would be great. Personally, I'd love to have a Becker with a blade length of 3 to 3 1/2 inches with the standard Becker scales. In an earlier thread we even came up with a name for it — the Becker Bushcrafter. Unfortunately, someone (I can't remember who) said it wouldn't happen. We never heard from Ethan, though, so who knows what he's got up his sleeve.

that would be sick, I wonder why they havent made one yet

Your guess is as good as mine. It seems to me that there is a glaring hole in the lineup between the BK-11 and the BK-2 that could be filled with a knife like this. I think it would be a best seller — I know I'd buy one or two. I can't see it being too difficult to tool up for, if they used the standard Becker scales: seems like a no-brainer to me.

What about the old BK-10 Crewman survival knife? It was like a smaller, thinner BK-2 right?

The BK-10 Crewman was basically the same length of the BK-2, but with thinner blade & the thumb-ramp like on the BK-7 & 9. Personally, I preferred the 10 to the 2, but I don't believe it was any smaller.

I agree that one with between a 3-3.5" blade would be absolutely sweet.

iirc in another thread, Ethan was working up various prototypes. some are mighty keen. i like the puuko styled one a lot - your super duper bushcrafter basically.

i'm bumping for a Becker Nessmuk or perhaps "Canadian" style knife myself.

Becker WSK? ;)

It is time for some new stuff. Blade came and went with just new handle offerings. I would like to see Mr. Becker more involved here from time to time, and offer some input as to where the product line may go from here. I can not be the only one who feels this way????

I remember that thread, and the pictures of the prototypes. Nothing wrong with the knives in that shot, but I've been looking more for a 3 to 3 1/2 inch blade with the standard Grivory (or micarta) Becker grips. Seems like it would be fairly easy to produce, and would fill a hole in the lineup. One of the problems here is that all of us have different ideas of what kind of knife we would like to see in that size range. I'm holding out for one that uses the traditional scales, and just screams out "I'm a Becker."

Who knows what Ethan has in mind, though? You might, Bladite, but the rest of us are in the dark. We can only hope that Saint Ethan hears our prayers, snaps his designer fingers, and delivers just what we want.

I bet one of the prototypes will come out and everyone will be like "Cool deal, I will have to get that!" Everyone has their opinion which would be a cool sized knife, I would like to see something in a 4 or 4 1/2 inch blade, thinner blade stock than the RAT 4.

If Ethan Becker designs it, it'll be good. The man has an eye for what makes a good knife.

there's new stuff :) they re intro'ed the BK-77, and had updates on the BK-13 Remora, yah? Plus other details for those at the show (ssh - can't tell). Something old, something new, something orange? Something blued? mmm.

Ethan IS quite active here usually and more than from time to time. he's just been doing his thing for bit. i think he's allowed ;)

so, you want more, now, soon, but wait is rewarded.

My state has one of those arbitrary blade length restriction laws.
I want <4" so I can carry it without legal hassle.

Well, there's always the BK-11 Necker, which is a pretty nifty little knife, and shorter than 4".

Keep us posted if you have your ear to the railroad rails....Ethan is no doubt concocting some ingenious ideas that will make us drool. Hope we can hear from him, but let's remember, he is a busy man and as such, it will benefit us in the end. More power to the man!

sounds like you need a becker necker :D

I really liked the BK11 (Becker/Necker), but the handle's too short, IMHO. In fact, something with a slightly longer handle, but the same blade would work. I believe BK11's blade is 3.25, so that would work.

I still think something in between the BK11 & BK2/10 would be very popular. Of course, for all we know, maybe something like that is being tested as we speak?

I agree with all you've said. We can only dream about something between the BK-11 and the Bk-2, but it would get my money.
