How About A ZDP-189 Folder for Those Who Live or Work in a 2.5" Environment?

The above question is asked because I work for the federal government and the law, 18 U S C 930, specifically permits folders with a blade of less than 2.5" in federal buildings. I LOVE my maroon Caly Jr., but the blade is 2 13/16". It may not seem like much, but to the rent-a-cops that most federal agencies use for security, that 5/16" is enough to present a problem. So, I am asking if Spyderco has considered producing a knife that I could happily carry to work that is in ZDP-189 steel? Perhaps a Kiwi or a Navigator?

Sign me up for a ZDP Naviagtor. My VG10 version is always in my pocket

I really, really like short knives, but it's got to be knives with a good edge geometry. The Kiwi doesn't really cut it in my opinion. Not a good slicer at all in my opinion, and one the the few Spydercos I don't really like for that reason.

The Navigator or indeed the Copilot would be much better choices. Ideally with a full flat grind, of course.

This is a long shot, but Sal has mentioned that there will be a morph of the Calypso Jr. and the UK Penknife. It sounds like it will be the UK Penknife, but with a lockback. There will be multiple models, and possibility for extra sprint runs if people buy.

Sal has mentioned that there will be a VG-10 "user" version, and a bolstered ZDP-189 version. In a thread talking about what to name the new knife Sal mentioned that the in house names were "Caly 75mm" and "Caly 63mm".

Now this is a lot of ifs, but if this model even comes out, and if the 63mm model makes it to production, and if that is the ZDP-189 and not the VG-10, then you are in luck.

In the Spyderco factory forums there is a sticky about the handle material, maybe you can post in there and try and sway things. I am for a 63mm Caly/UKPK, that'd be great. I live in Chicago, 2.5" is the law here too.

I must admit that none of these "super steels" really excite me, and that what I'd really like to see is a Kiwi in stainless damascus, even if it needed more frequent sharpening than VG-10. On the other hand, as one of the biggest Kiwi nuts around, I'd consider any variant of it that came out a legitimate excuse to add another one or two to my flock.

I would LOVE a 2.5 inch ZDP-189!!

I will be getting a Delica and Jess Horn ZDP-189!!!

I would prefer a Salsa with the titanium handles and compression lock in a ZDP blade. perfect edc size!!
