How About an HI Giveaway?

It's amazing how hard some forumites will work to spread the joy, as well.

Thank you, Norm. Great, seemingly endless, effort.

You are a good man.

Congratulations Eric 006.

Now, check out the chemistry in the various blue paints BEFORE you paint your body and charge the enemy. Some of that stuff can cause a skin condition.

Kis
enjoy every sandwich

Thanks for the kind words Kis! I know it did take a long time to get most of the numbers filled in. Like I said, kind of an odd duck. Now if it had been a CAK of Foxy Folly, I think we would have been done start to finish in 3 days. :D

NO message from Eric yet. I don't think he knows he's won! Eric, sending you a PM to check this thread.

Norm

No way!!!! I mean, NO WAY!!!!! Way?

:D :D :D :D

I don't know what else to say, except THANKS! (and THIS IS A GREAT PLACE!)

(The "6" in my username comes from the number in my immediate family.)

Eric

(PM coming your way, Norm.)

Just as an FYI, Eric in typically generous forumite fashion, PM'd me and asked me to send this to Steve!

So many people wanted it to go to Ram that it must have been meant for him.

Hopefully Steve will have the time to slick it up and make it something really special.

Of course, I guess it already is, right? :D

Thanks again, and thank you Eric.

Norm

Thank you, Norm.

(Who knows, if this one ends up in another raffle, maybe I'll get lucky twice! :D)

Eric

I've never known Dick in person but I've read his posts and on occasion find myself here enjoying the posts of everyone else so not wanting to dishonor Dick I'll pick 72 and say thanks.

Um...72 what? The raffle is over, Eric won and donated the blade.

Gentlemen,

This is my first post and I am happy to find what I came for; a healthy respect for Dick Singer (SOGGUY) my friend. Richard was an incredible man that I learned many things from and will be ever grateful for access to his wisdom. We spent much time together and can hardly believe it will nearly be a year since his passing, Dec 7 , Pearl Harbor Day 2006. We didnt quite get the chance to celebrate his birthday on Christmas Eve. I can report to you all he rests in the Canyonlands of southern Utah in a place he dearly loved and I was enriched to see. May God bless his soul.

Thank you all for the respect you show to this great person. If any of you want any stories let me know

P.S. hello to the other 2 Sisters

Sincerely, ryan

Norm, I will try to get in touch. Thanks for everything

Thanks for this great tribute to a great and important guy here. We all pull up to the fire, and sometimes some must leave, be it of their own choosing or not. But in things like this, the legacies of great men can go on. I like that.

Thanks, Svashtar. :)

Welcome, Ryan. From one of the sisters. Stories about Dick are certainly welcome. I think of him everytime I feed the birds.

Joe,

glad to finally be here, it already feels like home. Norm invited me many months ago but for one reason or another it has taken me till now. Dick always tried too but I have never been on a site like this before and am trying to fumble my way through it. It feels good to have people who have a point of reference for someone who is a large part of my life, my brides life as well as my children.

You guys have a culture here that fascinates me and I dont know any of it's in's and or out's.

I met Dick in 2000 in Boise Idaho. We worked for a large general contractor; many from our team came from all over the country. His expertise and scope of responsibility was to oversee all the electrical systems that were to be installed in a 300 million dollar Micron fab. I was the Safety engineer and was introduced by a mutual friend. After the end of the project in late 2001. I relocated several times for more projects and he went to work for the BLM to assess remote hard assets in locales such as Alaska and numerous other rarely seen and little known places recognized by me only as navigational coordinates. His 3 tours with the Special Forces in southeast asia in the late 60's served him well in this capacity. The man was awarded 4 Purple Hearts and did not accept 2 others. He was with the "Pathfinders" : We have all heard of project Delta or delta force but he was attached to to a Sigma roadrunner team. Information on these teams and their roles are minimal but I can assure you that the ops were black and very wet. When Dick spoke of weapons and gave his opinions here they were well founded.

My wife and I flew up to see him last September and can tell you when I was helping him ready his things for his final journey that there were hundreds of knives and 3 large suitcases of Himilayans specifically that he sent off to many of you. i can also tell you he loved and spoke fondly of many of you. thank you for giving him many of hours of enjoyment here in this forum. he had no family to speak of and his friends were all he had. Ooh and all of the animals that he cared for; his squirrels and birds, Gus the cat and many others. He was a man who was truly comfortable with and by himself. The last time I saw my friend was after spending the day up in what is known as the Primitive area of Idaho. He showed my wife her first Bald Eagle, it was quite magnificent for a desert girl. he called me several days before his passing and verified that i would be getting a package with his ashes. My family and I took him to a canyon just north of Kanab, Utah to the Best Friends animal sanctuary and carried out all that he asked. I speak of this all with great reverence but desired to update all who cared. I am sure you all had no idea what had transpired, only that he was gone.

sincerely,
ryan

Ryan,

I can't thank you enough for giving us a little more of Dick's life, and some of yours. He's part of an ever-growing group of people here, who I wish I'd met personally.

As for your 'fumbling around the site', I'm guessing that you rise to the top of a LOT of situations, just by being who you are. If you have questions, post 'em, in the Cantina if they're not specifically HI-related.

Again, welcome. And stick around.
