I saw a photo of SnG someone posted. Does anyone know what the scales are made of? The blade lock design looks similar to that of a Sebenza and was that a thumb stud I saw in addition to a Spyderco hole in the blade?

It's G-10 on one side and Titanium on the other. I saw a couple that Duane and Leonard brought to BAKCA this past weekend and it is a beautiful piece. IMHO it's just the right size and, I hate to say this about a Strider, but its very light. Not that it isn't a bomb proof knife. It's just a little wierd. Anyway, I can't wait for November.

G-10 married to titanium, very interesting combination. Wonder why they didn't just go with titanium on both sides? Did they say what the price range was going to be for the SnG and was the thickness of the blade consistent with Striders? I assume it will be made of S30V?

I don’t like the way an all metal knife feels.
Its cold in your hand, its cold on your skin if you wear it IWB.
Plus the G10 is VERY light and exceptionally strong.

Sorry, forgot a question…
The blade thickness is .165” as compared to the AR/GB which is .190” (really .187” but who cares).

Ah....now that makes sense. The blade thickness is pretty close to the GB/AR blades. Just to confirm, the blades are going to be made with the S30V material? Can't wait to see one.
 
Luan, and I both handled them, and were very impressed, and glad we have 2 on order.
Fit the hand well, an although light in weight we both like that for time you can't carry the the larger AR/GB.
Will make a great addition to the AR/GB.
Looking forward to getting ours when they re done.

Yes, feather-weight. I am also glad to have one on pre-order at TAD. Very nice thumb hole placement. My only druthers would be to add another 1/2 inch to blade length.

Yes, I know that isn't going to happen.

BTW Mick, is that November 1 or November 30?:p

I was wondering if you could comment on the blade length. As far as I know, the SnG is 3" long. I love 4"ish blades! I find this length to be perfect for my EDC needs. Why is the SnG's length only 3", and not longer? Longer would be better for self defensive purposes, I'd think. a smaller blade may be more carryable, but I can carry my 4" AFCK clipped to my pocked without any trouble. Would a longer SnG be too big for the role the SnG was designed to fulfill?

So...
the blade is .165 and 3" long.
How long is the knife closed?

2 questions:


1. What is the price on these.

2. If one was to pre-order one now, what would be the expected time to receive it. Are we talking 2 months, 6 months or even a year. Just contemplating a purchase and wanted to know when to order.

The price is yet unknown. Most of us are expecting it to be in the $350 to $400 range. A rough ETA at this point is sometime in November. TAD Gear is getting the first 200, broken down into four different styles. The last time I checked, there are still a few left for preorder.

I measure the cutting edge on my AR to be about 3 4/8" long, so the SNG will be a bit shorter and not as big (top to bottom). If it's only slightly smaller than may AR, it will still be too big for EDC. To big for me anyway.
