How about the actual buying process?

So I post a knife for sale (after I upgrade my membership). Someone contacts me to buy the knife. Do I send a Paypal invoice and get the funds before I ship the knife? I'm confused how this works. Thanks in advance

Old school here....hate PayPal to death.

I've sent the knife (knives) via USPS or UPS insured with a DC or Signature Required.

Upon receipt of the M.O. I wait until confirmation via email/text/phonecall that they are indeed happy with their purchase.

For example, I just sent a knife to AZ today. Emailed the tracking number and already received a response that they are tracking it.

Once I get confirmation they received it and it passes their "muster", I cash the M.O. and all is good.

Up to you on when to ship, but nothing wrong for you to wait for confirmed PP payment receipt. If you only want MO or check, you can wait until that clears before shipping.

Just don't try and charge the buyer for the PP fees, that's considered a "no no" since that's part of the expenses a Seller agreed to pay to Paypal.

I'd always recommend getting funds before you ship a knife. Just give then your PayPal address and any stipulations you may have (gift, add 3%, etc) and the rest is up to them!

Have you seen how many problems "gifting" of funds has caused? This is one signal of a scam in process since the Buyer has no recourse to get any money back if the sale is not completed.

Do you understand that it is the responsibility of the Seller to pay the fees? This is a stipulation in the terms when signing-up with PayPal.
