forum knife is perfect size and shape for me,it is only logical to get similar knife with added bonus of secondary pen. ;)

That #77 makes a great looking Regular Jack. Thanks for all the nice pics, and the "Glow" shots, folks. ~P and Lemmy, that sunbrite looks amazing on that knife; a vast area of tastiness!

That was a nice explanation Sarah, thanks. A while back I was contemplating between the #78 American Jack, #55 Houndstooth and #92 Erueka Jack. I ended up getting the Houndstooth, because I liked the idea of a single LL version. It's nice, but maybe a hair short for me. I think I probably would like the Eureka better. That is the one I will probably try next. I wouldn't mind trying the #78 as well, but all in due time.

Here's my nifebrite 77. Love the nuclear green glow.

Thanks Charlie. Yeah the sunbrite feels very classic, sorta like Case's Yella Delrin or Camillus' Yello Jaket. I just feel like acrylic covers can really work on this and the 15 frame, much more so than on something like a gunstock or trapper pattern. I think its the clean classic minimalism that harkens to that 1950's optimism and just makes sense in acrylic. Wonder if we're going to see more acrylic options on the 15 or 77 frames?

I almost like that one, but would prefer something more of a pale yellow, or Westinghouse, or ivory bone... I think that would look great on this pattern

Got mine today. Pull is at my limit, I'd say a 7, but the nick makes it a bit easier to open than the BF knife. I'll give it a week to see how my thumb holds out. Nicely finished, a very attractive pattern.

I liked the forum knife, but didn't like the stag on my copy. I'd really like a bone/wood single blade version of this knife.

Jerry,
Not sure if yours is the same, but when I first got mine it was difficult to open. It wasn't just the pull, but think it was gummied up a bit. I did the warm water then mineral oil to flush it. Then I lubricated it. I opened and closed it alot over the a few days. It started to get easier to open. No after carrying almost every day for a couple weeks it has great walk and talk. I would say around 5-6 on the pull. But most importantly it is smooth snappy action as opposed to the original slow gummy action. I hope you have the same experience.

csisland, i have both. The Fremont Jack will always be easier just because it can be pinched. I actually have two and if I recall correctly one has stronger pull than the other, maybe like a 4 vs 5. It is a little harder to compare a knife that can be pinched versus one that I have to use the nick, for me at least. I cant remember off the top of my head how my FJs feel using the nick.

Thanks. The Fremont is as strong as I will go on a knife so if the Yankee Jack is stronger than the Fremont, I would have to pass it up.

I really like the coloring and the saw cut texture, it's a solid knife and came sharp but mine has some decent gaps between the bone and liners.

Thanks Eric, I'm working on it :)

My Sawcut Bone arrived yesterday. I too like the coloring and the look of the saw cut bone. It's a great pattern, but I must say I am disappointed regarding the gaps between the bone and bolsters.

Can you post some pictures of these gaps? I'm curious to see how bad it is after two of the last three posts mentioned them.

When I'm home during daylight hours I'll take some pics of mine and post them.

Edited to add this:

I've looked at several pics of the Sawcut bone 77s, and they all pretty much have the appearance of mine. The covers are just not as tight as the wood covers. Maybe common with the bone covers?....... I don't know. I will step back from this one and admit that I'm most likely being too anal about the issue. The knife is still a great pattern! It's a keeper.
