Nice score.
You still seem to be confused about hardness.(http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=562568) I suggest you do a lot of reading here on the forums. Plenty information to be found.

Kind regards,

Jos

jos Theres alots of things i wanna 2 know and theres no answer in the web or in this site. Alots of stuff i needs a really pro blacksmith 2 give me answer. since not all blacksmith got the resorce 2 try anything with everything.

I have several WH's including the older Black and Tans and the Newer Rios and Titans. I wear them with suits or khaki's, clothes that are light and I dont want weighted down. They are great slicers...but that is what they are slicers and great gentlemans knives. I wouldnt want to put them through hard use as they are not designed for that, i'd sooner put my mnandi through tuff use than my Rio.

I just took the plunge and purchased a nice one. I've never spent this much money on a knife before, and I did it willingly. I got a Gentac with Iron Wood handle and Spesertite (sp?) inserts in the button and thumb stud. I could have gotten a CR Mnandi for less, or even another Microtech OTF, but I thought it was time to step into the Gent's arena.

When I pick up the knife, I can't put it down. It just begs to be fondled. Opening and closing it is entrancing, and observing how the light plays across the blade and bolsters is mesmerizing. The brilliant glow of the gemstones draws your eyes like liquid gold. The wonderful figuring in the wood contrasts nicely with the slick-smooth look of the brushed bolsters.

Plus, it's fairly sharp.:D

Yes, I'm in love. Here's a pic I borrowed from Plaza Cutlery (they have one available, BTW) I bought it locally, so I ended up taking a hit on the sales tax, but being able to handle and examine it first hand was worth it. $512 with tax.

There's a WH picture thread in "the Gallery" (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=545385). Could you guys post some pics over there please?

As for my opinion on W-H knives: I like 'em a lot! I've got 4 of them. Two of those are the Legacy folder (one with a DLC coated blade, one with a damascus blade). That's a non-locking knife, legal to carry in the UK for example. I've EDC'd one of them for a couple of months now. Nice little folders.
Then I have the B10 Sundance limited edition, which I don't consider a using folder because it's way too pretty for that.
My B30 Gentac on the other hand is a fine knife for using. It's not a hard use "beat me through wood with a hammer" kind of folder, but for everyday use like cutting string, paper, fruit, food, opening packages etc... it's OK. The button lock they use seems strong enough.

Their fit & finish is really good. Oh and most of their knives come in a nice wooden presentation box. I like nice wooden presentation boxes!:D

Kind regards,

Jos

Few WH come in the presentation boxes, unless you are into the Collectors Editions. Here are a few of mine, I posted here and in that other thread.

You will also see Mike Tisons' Award winning Sowbelly and my Grandfathers Remingtons pen knife.

Well seeing as 3 out of 5 of my W-H's (4 knives and a pen) came in a presentation box I thought that was more or less the standard.

Impressive picture!

Yup, same knife I have in my pocket right now (and most days). This one really appeals to me and I find I use it more than my other WHs. It is razor sharp, and with that really thin profile it's like a laser cutting practically anything. Great stuff!

- Mark (not promised a free knife by WH for the aforementioned statement :D)

I knew someone had to be buying the WHs. I guess I am jaded - or just too hobby-poor to rationalize such an expenditure on a pocketable knife. A local high-end sporting goods shop has a few WHs on display - they are nice. Oddly, I was more impressed with the 'Custom Shop' at Buck - and what they produced for me - for a fraction of the cheapest WH I have seen. Of course, it's a hearty knife, too - meant to be used. They have restructured their pricing recently, but last autumn brought this one in for $175 delivered - a steal! Ni-Ag bolsters, flaming Koa wood scales, and teardrop Damascus. Perfectly fitted - but so is the last Buck 110 I paid $25 for at Wally World. I guess I am just stating the obvious - get a Buck for a 'user' - and that beauty of a WH as a piece of 'art'!

Nice Buck indeed. But then again, this is a William Henry thread. And I think we all can find lots of nice knives that are much cheaper than W-H. But that's not the point.

As I said before - out of the ones I have there's one I wouldn't use (the B10 Sundance limited edition), but the 2 Legacy's and the Gentac are going in my pocket sometimes. And if something needs to be cut - they cut it with authority. (As long as you don't try to baton them through wood or beat them with a sledgehammer!):)

Kind regards,

Jos

PS. Do I get a free W-H knife now?:D

You must have more money than I do, my are the cheap ones.:D:D
Thanks for the compliment, but it was taken by my son.
My pictures stink.

Are they worth the money? How are the locking mechanisms?

As mentioned above, they are truly gents knives, not rough and tumble
but, if you do as intended, they CUT great!

The lock mechs of the new ones, that I've seen recently, are button locks
with a very secure lock mech.

My preference is the B15 series, a little longer blade, love the shape
but that GenTach is calling my name pretty loudly!

Nice pics Gary!

My preference is the B10 series, but then again this GenTac is calling MY name (and getting harder and harder to ignore!):
