I have not done this yet but here is my thought on a trick . Set your tool rest at the angle you want the grind up to the flat platen . Lay the blade on the tool rest , push up to the platen and grind away . You would maintain the same angle on both sides .

I would love to see some more pictures and hear how you made that jig, if you don't mind?

Is the micarta on the side closest to the belt or away from the belt?

I just did my first scandi grind edge last night trying to use a hand made jig, and it was a little of a disaster. Had to correct many mistakes. However, the tool rest shown on this thread is ingenious.
