how are you guys liking your Leafstorms???

My bad...yes it is a frame lock...dont know why I kept writing liner. My sincere apologies to Chris Reeve. Hope your right about seating the lock bar. I still think for that kind of money it should be a little smoother.

Why do some posters think the Ti is too thin ? I have an Eric Elson custom 3 in folder with identical dimensions which also has an 80 thou. Ti frame and is as strong as any Sebenza. Thicker than most liner locks.

Ti too thin? Probably because it is a $140+ knife.

The Leafstorm is one of the few knives I have aquired that underwhelmed when I first got it. I had to closely look at it to gain enough appreciation to feel it was a fair purchase. The Leafstorm is truly about the little things that go into a design. This is not helped by the small size for the price.

Personally, I'd like the Ti a bit thicker, not equal to the G10 though.

I too was a bit underwhelmed when I got mine, but blamed it on the Leaf Storm being so photogenic. Ignoring the flat and characterless G11, I immediately took it apart to drool over the Chris Reeve style precision bushing pivot system. Tighten both pivot screws...no side play...no fiddling.

Not trying to uber support the LeafStorm. Bought mine because it was funky...different...precision built and small for pocket carry without clip.

I rotate EDC with my Elson and small Sebenza. The LeafStorm is half the price of these two and precision build is same class. More sheeple friendly too.

I sold a Strider PT CC ($300 knife) which had better ergo's and more soul than a LeafStorm can ever have, but lacked precision build and F&F.

I used the "precision " word four times and that is what I wanted in the knife.

It's precision but the corner of the lock back that you press with your thumb is sharp, not cut you sharp, but it isn't painless to use always.

thats because its not a spyderco design its a wilkins design

I am aware of this, and was stating that it simply isn't as ergonomic. A collaborative design with some better handle ergos would be very interesting, but then I guess it wouldn't have the same appeal that the Leafstorm has. Still, I'd love to see something like that :D

It's elegant is what it is. Unfortunately it takes a larger trit vial to light it up than fits on it without machining.

Installed a 3x23mm trit vial inside of G10 against back spacer. WOW !

Enough power to be real visible through translucent G10. Four way visibility...back and side of G10...through lock bar slot on Ti side and through blade side open or closed.

I tried a couple of 1.5x5mm vials in lanyard hole...not enough output to glow through G10...only visible at lanyard hole.

I know, pics or it didn't happen. I don't have a digi camera and wouldn't know how to stuff pictures in this teletype machine anyway.

65535...have you tried a trit vial yet? I've got a selection of different sizes in green coming in the mail.

Sorry just read this, my 2mmx12mm blue's don't do much, and my 4mmx20mm green is too big to fit the scales, a 3mm sounds like a happy medium.

Where did you source your trit vials. Bart in the Netherlands and Merkava in Singapore don't have 4x20mm green.

As far as I know Merkava's 3x23mm high pressure is brightest vial available. Bargain at $16.

4x20mm should fit no problem in inside corner of G10. Show us some pics with that new camera of yours. I don't have the camera or skills.

Hi wally@ferguson, would you mind sending me the link where you bought the tritium at? I'm having a hard time finding it.

Also, how did you mount the trit vials in the knife? Where on the knife did you put it, and how did you keep it in place? I didn't really understand what you meant through the blade side.

Thanks.

I goy my 3x23mm max press from Merkava. I'm embarrased to say I don't know how to do links. He can be found at Candle Power Forums in the Market place where he has his own sales thread. Bart is there also.

You don't have to disassemble the knife if you are real carefull. I used a TINY bit of epoxy and glued the vial on inside corner from lanyard hole towards pivot. There is plenty of clearance for a 3x23 vial.

If knife is lying flat you will see the trit through the lock bar slot and both sides of closed blade. I would have preferred a horizontal mounting in line with lock bar slot, but not possible without machining.

$16 + $3 for shipping is a bargain. Try different positions with a VERY TINY dot of white wood glue to see how it looks .

I don't have a drill press , but obvious location would be to drill a 3mm hole parallel with back spacer. I believe Lambert has done that on a couple of his customs.
