how badly did you cut yourself by accident with the knife you carried

I was playing with my boker albatross in the office and accidently cut my palm.
Not a big deal though as the cut is just slightly deeper then a paper cut
But it got me wondering how badly others have cut themselves by accident when playing with their knives.

Had I not carried a knife, that would not have happened. There is indeed increased risk when carrying a knife around/ playing around with a knife
Just like driving a car, no matter how good a driver you are, the more you drive, the higher the chance accident could happen

Playing with a Pocket catch on a old folder catching it on my jeans. I wasn't paying attention and it caught, I came back to to snag it with the blade open and locked. i got maybe a 1-2 inch long cut and cut jeans.

Reaching into pocket to grab a blade that had opened has drawn the most blood, I sell those off!!!!(fN Contego)

My Girlfriend flipped open a 300SN, lost her grip, and then tried to catch a falling knife, I gave her 6 stitches, she sold that blade, lol

Okay... don't laugh.. I cut myself once with the clamshell packaging of a knife I was trying to get out. I think it was a piece of turd Gerber knife. I cut the clamshell open just enough to get the knife out, and as I reached in, it caught my just right. Not a bad cut, more like a papercut. But man... using a knife to get to a knife to get bit by the plastic. :(

When I was a kid of about 10 or so I cut myself on my left palm with a Swiss Army knife. I don't recall what it was I was doing, but I remember the cut and the blood. I still have a scar to remind me of it.

I get little nicks here and there when cleaning or sharpening knives, some don't actually draw blood but just sort of cut the upper couple of layers of skin. Nothing major, and nothing a small bandaid doesn't handle. In general I try to be very careful with them. "Playing" with knives is not something I do.

Five stitches in my palm once whillin' in my mid-30s. Nothing compared to the time I put a pitchfork through my foot when I was a preteen.

I just sharpened my S1 and was flipping it in my hand and missed. I ended up catching it by the blade :(.

I went to cut off a hospital bracelet and didn't think enough to stop walking and I heard a splash, looked down and saw I had jabbed the knife into my hand, I'm not really sure how deep but it bleed a lot, like a lot.

I have pictures

I love knives and have a seriously bad habit of absent mindedly playing with them when not using them to cut things. Let's say I have a do as I say not as I do policy with the kiddo:)

This last one(of many)was from one of my Emerson CQC 7's:

Few 5-6 stitchers on the fingers from Emersons.. not sure why, but they bite me more than most and do the damage. Hence, all gone :-)

Christmas morning, 1998. We were in a hurry to get the kids' presents open and head over to the in-laws. My daughter asked me to take her new Cabbage Patch doll, which was tied down with an industrial strength zip tie, out of the packaging. I knew the safe thing to do was to use some sort of snips but I was in a hurry so I pulled out my Swiss Army knife. I had to pull so hard to cut through the tie that when it finally cut, I stabbed myself in the back of the hand that I was holding the doll in. Lessons learned...(1) use the right tool for the job, and (2) there is no worse place in the world than the emergency room on Christmas morning.

Until i started sharpening knives I thought sharp knives were safer than dull ones. Last week I had 3 bandaids on my hands!
Sheesh!

Not really ever with an edc.......was chopping some crappy weedy bushes with a machete once and being a complete fool with no common sense and not using my head I grabbed the branch and pulled it down while I whacked at it and the blade bounced and stuck right into my thumbnail. Luckily I was being lazy and had a long thumb nail and the blade wasn't sharp enough and stopped quickly.

I did stop and pause for a few seconds expecting a lost thumb....but I was one lucky fool that day. Another reminder to always pay close attention when using tools.

There should be a separate section for all the "How bad did you cut yourself" threads here.
I suppose I'm in the minority since I seldom get bit, and when I do I keep it to myself.

I just took a patch of epidermis about 3/16" long by 1/8" wide off the tip of my right pinky closing my ZT0700 last night. Nothing big, but that's my most recent.
