how badly did you cut yourself by accident with the knife you carried

I think I got one for idiot-move-of-the-year. One night, after playing with a recently purchased midtech flipper, I absently-minded put the knife in my lap. My GF turned out the lights as it was time to go to bed. I stood up to head to the bedroom and heard the knife fall to the floor. Walked over to the light switch to turn the light on to find the knife. Unbeknownst to me, the knife fell perfectly on the floor and flipped 90-deg open where bonehead me stepped down right on it (in the dark mind you.). Small penetration, 3/4" wide, but 3/4" deep right into the arch of my foot. How do i know 3/4" deep? Left a blood mark on the blade like an oil dipstick. Took me out, missed work the next day (with a flat-tire foot, crutches, doctor appointment, tetanus ahot, the whole 9-yards. Most bone-head move I've ever did.

Not a very bad cut by any means, but ridiculous how it happened...

I was sitting with my foot propped up on my knee, and seeing how quickly I could take cuts of receipt paper. Well, I'll admit there was a bit of alcohol involved which may have had a hand in this, but I forgot about my toe being behind the receipt paper and this happened... Just barely didn't filet off the whole chunk.

It healed okay though

Last night...I wanted to see if my new Ghost 3.5 was shaving sharp....I accidentally dug the serrations into my leg and not thinking much of it, still shaved part of my leg and put my jeans down...I only noticed it when my buddy told me to look at my jeans...Turns out it soaked my jeans leg in blood and I bled into my boot (those boots were new and desert tan in color, now they have a flair of red!) Baptized the knife and boots and jeans in blood. First week I bought the jeans and boots first day I had the knife. The gash is about 3.5" long and kinda makes me sad. I'm keeping the knife though.

Recently i cut myself 4 times within 3 days. Very rare for me, i play with knives a lot, sharpen them a lot, modify then, clean them. I cut myself maybe once every few months and it's never that bad.
First, opened my knife slowly, didn't realize the lock did not engage... pushed on the spine while polishing it... bam, serrations into the skin. An inch deep, inch wide. Healed well but there's a... canyon... so to speak. Pic below
Second. replacing the torsion bar on my knife, i opened it for the first time. I forgot new torsion bars are so strong so when closing it, i didn't push hard enough and it sprang back open, stabbing my palm.. it bled so much for such a tiny cut. It just kept pouring out until i had a pool of blood in my palm, dripping all over my pants... of course i just stared at it like an idiot, shocked, and scared to get it on my carpet. Had to close my hand to stop the profuse bleeding, which led to a pretty cool looking picture, and let my pants catch the drips as i made my way to the bathroom to wash it off. (And take pictures along the way, of course.)
Third. Closed the blade with my thumb in the way... inch deep, took a while to heal
Fourth, same as the third, same thumb, same spot, about half an inch away and about a day later. I felt like the stupidest mo-fo in the world making that mistake for the first and second times in my life... within 2 days.
These are by far my worst accidental cuts. I'll post pics below.... My worst cuts of all were definitely self-inflicted. A few years ago my father was dying, my baby brother as well. Very bad depression ensued, as did strong medications that made me feel numb, insane, and suicidal. Sob story, i know. Shit happens, though. All is well now thanks to medical science and great surgeons. In todays society if you're not constantly smiling, cracking jokes, and dare to cry.... you're depressed. It's bull... meh, that's a topic for a different forum i suppose

Responded to a similar thread a while ago so here it is:

OK.

I purchased a Springfield 1903 rifle @ a gun show in Texas.

As many of you know, they tie the action open @ these shows.

I had been looking for one of these guns for years and they were either too beat up or $$$ for my tastes to purchase them.

When I got home I naturally wanted to remove the tie. I first got a pair of sissors but to use them I might mar the finish (can't have that).

I used an old Swiss Army Knife i've had for years. I was using an overhand grip on the action and actually thought to myself (this is a really bad idea) when the knife cut through the tie "like butter" and into the knuckle of my index finger through and through.

It had obviously invaded the joint and the veins on the thumb side of my hand as it bleed quite profusly. I never felt a thing (sharp knife) and suddenly realized I was bleeding all over my gun (absolutely unacceptable).

I washed the wound and bound it pretty tight; my wife was insistent that I go to the ER but NOT UNTIL I CLEANED THE GUN. I had waited years to obtain it and would not allow rust to ruin it.

My wife still gives me a hard time about it. I nicked some tendons (extensor) as well and still cannot extend the index finger of my left hand completely. I have full function of the hand though.

It causes no issue, the gun is in good shape and I still collect knives (much to my wifes dismay).

That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Of course you cleaned the blood off your rifle first. It's only logical, and you, sir, are a true man. Also, not the right thread for it but what'd you end up paying for the 1903? To stay on topic.. uhh... scar pics or it didn't happen?

Sliced the pad of my index finger thru side to side .. its OK , the blade hit the bone and skidded a bit and stopped .

I had split some kindling with a mora leuku , looked up to see what the kids where yelling about and then had that oh dam .. "that wasnt a stick I just grabbed up was it" feeling .

It joined up easy , but it took 2 years before the nerves healed properly .
