How badly does use impact value?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to use the same philosophy I use on guns and offroad vehicles -- they need to be used to be fully enjoyed. Some will be used less than others.

shhhh... can you hear that? it's the cries of thousands of pieces of INFI wishing to be used.

.

That must be Bravado's knives you are hearing............

.

:D

All I know is that impact impacts value. :D

Nope, that would be TacBlade's former knife, LOL!!! Remember, he said "pieces".

Dear God! Thank you for reaching that conclusion... I was beginning to get sick.

Now this is just my opinion... so no one jump down my throat. I get the idea of collecting things. I just don't understand how someone can value or enjoy something (a tool)that goes unused simply because you don't want it to lose value should you want to sell it. At that point, you're not owning something... you're just baby sitting it for the next guy. Before most of my Busses were used, I'd handle them and flip them around while watching TV or something, but the thrill wore off. I can't imagine keeping a knife pristine and saying "wow this thing is mint... I can't wait to sell it, and benefit from it's mintness"

That's why I couldn't hold onto my Force One. I realized its entire worth to me, was based on what someone else would pay for it when I got rid of it. And if I didn't get rid of it and it remained unused, it may as well be 7 crisp $100 bills sitting in a box.

If you truly want to collect a knife and keep it pristine and regard it as art, its monetary value should never enter your mind.

That was the most well-stated post I've heard on this subject in quite some time. Possibly ever.

I agree completely.

I agree, these things are meant for use right? I guess if wanted one for value you could get two and store one away.

I enjoy collecting as much as the next guy but that right there is funny. :D

I'd never thought of it that way but it's true. The good part of that babysitting gig is I don't have to feed them or change their diapers and I get a pretty penny for my time. I wish I could say that about my kids. They cost me money instead of make money, unless I can get one of my 3 boys into the NBA or NFL then it's all good . . . :p

Yeah, but $ only gets you so far. If your an even half-way decent father (and I am sure you are), I think you'll agree with me that those three boys will give you things that money could never buy.

it's like saying my girlfriend is too hot to have sex with :D use it, enjoy it and pass it down with some memories attached to it

LOL....

Anyone else squigged out by the order and proximity of these two phrases?

:D Amen brother... and there's no exchange where I can offload my kid for a fair used price.

...like headaches, dented quarter panels, army men melted into the basement carpet... ;)
