How big of a job is it to change grips on a basic blade?

If the custom shop was open this would be a no brainer, but here we are.

I like my basics with black res-c and black coating, and some only come in desert tan res-c, like the BB13 and the HOGB8. The color isnt a deal breaker of course, its a minor point, but if I could have my way Id get black grips put on all of them. Basic black all the way

So whats involved in getting the grips switched out on my BB13 and HOGB8?

I want to know what tang is on it because I am modifying the blade profile and thinking I may upgrade to custom scales to round out the package.

I just had an idea one day, and I put a little magnet (the little less than dime sized magnets) on my Res-C handles to get a feel for how close the tang is to the "surface" of the Res-C...the magnet does not fall off and has decent attraction at any handle placement on any of the basics I have '8 and 'BB13 or my INFI War Dogs...that probably did not help at all!!!

Some folks have X-Ray access it seems...not sure if I have seen any of the Res-C x-Rays - would be great to see as I am sure the Basic Tang would be similar for all, just differing proportions.

From the Scrapyard website. You can pretty much guarantee the Busse ones are the same.

I have seen some of the scrap yard xrays and they have varying tangs. Some even have barbs.

So I believe it is model specific.

I'd love to see this. A BB13 with custom enclosed-tang scales would be epic.

I've only removed mudder and basic handles like pictured above and they both looked just like that, just with different lengths. Can't speak to the Regulator or War Dog handles, but I doubt they would be too far off from this.

Oh, and they are thickness specific, so you can't swap just any res-c handle, it has to be from the same thickness blade.

Now this is good advice here. Seems that geting res c grips switched out is really something Id much prefer to have the shop do. I will ask them, even though theyre officially closed, maybe they can still do it if its as simple as I imagine.

Not a swap, but something I did to a Tan res-c handle that ended with it appearing black.
Cricket bat grip on the Combat grade. Cheap, simple effective. Many colours to choose from. I even beefed up the handle with hockey tape underneath the bat grip.

Cool option, thanks for sharing it in general Im a big fan of grip tape and I might consider this for my bb13. For the HOGB8 though, my heart is set on factory appearance.

How does the beefier grip feel in hand, not just the size, hows the grippiness?

I'm wonderin if anyone's tried RIT dyeing them???

Probably wouldn't work with Resiperene-C being all hygrophobic or hygroscopic, whatever it's termed...but if a Hog were to submerge the handle in highly concentrated vat of the stuff...I just wonder what'd happen...

Anybody try that yet?
