How can I determine which steel my leek is?

Would like to find out if my leek is13c28 or 14c28n. Is there a way to tell the difference?

Thinking of another kershaw (tanto blur) and want something to compare it to. I absolutely love the leeks edge retention and sharpenability.

first, what is the born on date? I think tehy switched over in 09 some time, and so if it is before them, then you probably have 13c26

Jul 08 on my blade. So must be 13c26. Is the 14c28n as sharp and does it hold it's edge as well and sharpen up as well as this steel? If so I'll prolly pick up a blur

14C28N does have slightly better edge retention and nitrogen is added in the steel-making process. It's actually an upgrade to the 13C28N and at no extra cost :thumbup:

As far as the blur... they're great - I've got 3 right now.
