How can I see if the knife I got is the real thing?

Hello there, first time poster here. I was wondering if someone can help me authenticate a ka-bar knife I have? It's been with me for almost seven years now, never brought out ('til now), never used, but I still have no idea whether or not it's authentic of not. I got it from a trade back when I was 14, didn't get any documentation or such. Wishing the pics would show up here. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks!

oh! discontinued? why, though? sorry, i really have zero knowledge with knives :(
Replaced by newer models like the D2 Extreme Fighter.

No problem with a lack of knowledge. That's what Bladeforums is all about - passing on that knowledge. ;)

Again, for all things KaBar, come join us in the KaBar subforum, pull up a log closer to the fire and soak it all in. ;)

Welcome! Looks like it could use a light coat of oil and a wipedown and be as good as new.
Stick around.

Thanks for the welcome! Ah, yeah, it's been in storage for seven years haha. Well, main reason why I suddenly had the urge to ask about this knife is because someone is interested in taking it off my hands, and I wouldn't want to relinquish this blade without knowing a bit more about it. Besides, my friend would appreciate this more, since I'm more into eastern blades. But still... I've always loved this knife :D

if I may just ask though... what's a fair price for a knife in this condition?
