How can this be legal ?

It's cheaper to reverse engineer and reproduce a successful product than it is to R&D your own.
China and Korea do it all the time. Look at the Roxor/ Jeep.
But the little "hamsters", or should I say lemmings continue to buy them up.

I have worked at foreign owned projects, and the management of a well known Korean electronics company doesn't even respect our Independence Day Holiday.
No irony there. ?

In a way it's a compliment to have your product copied........

I suppose they get away with it because the name BUCK KNIVES isn’t on the knife or the package. Everyone who has ever bought a tool knows Harbor Freight tools are cheap Asian made tools. I get a chuckle at their ‘Pittsburg’ brand tools - they‘ve never seen Pittsburg until the container from Asia gets unloaded there! All that said, many folks don’t need a MAC or Snap-On or Buck grade of tool for their use and buy the cheap item. No way to stop that, just your own choice when spending your own money. OH

I've seen the Buck 110 knock offs but was pretty surprised a retailer as big as Harbor Freight is selling these 119 clones. Why anyone would buy this stuff :poop: only to save a few dollars really blows my mind .😬
I believe tractor supply was also offering the same knife a few years back, but I never imagined HF offering it.
Not that I exactly expect better of them with how their ICON line is trying so hard to be snapon.

whole thread on it already in Buck forum.....

also Hickory n steel Hickory n steel found it first and started it in the Buck clone and fakes thread...

I looked at one of these in person. Hickory n steel Hickory n steel was right. its the same full tang as a Buck 119. has pin and all in it. the clones guard is tight and cut well. no micarta spacers in the clone. couldn't tell if the blade to tang transition at the guard is radiused or not. think so but not sure. knife is very tightly put together....no gaps to see. actual blade is much cheaper finished. where Buck has angles on the clip in false edge bevels.....the clone is cut flat across.

the sheath is thin leather or false leather, not sure. very thin cut so I expect it will tear or wear out fast..no surprise there. knife weight makes it tip around on a belt more than it should. it may look a bit like a Buck sheath it aint a good copy.

isn't mine so I couldn't test steel on file or sharpening to see if soft or hard.

all in all very cheaply made clone. I dont see it cutting into Bucks 119 business much. someone who wouldn't buy a 119, would buy this one. not so sure it would happen the other way other than pure curiosity.

what caught me by surprise is how available these are. in stock at every harbor f around here and I knew someone who had one already. not sure how long they've been out there...I figured newish, but no so sure now from a quick store trip and online check of stock.

It could have been the tractor supply example your friend has.
All I really know is that a TSC 119 knockoff was mentioned in the fakes and counterfeit thread a couple years ago.
I do not recall of they were as close of a copy or not.

Your assessment of the knife is about what I assumed, Walmart already sells the 119 cheaper than you'd expect and I cannot imagine China being able to offer the same exact everything in a knife for as low as $20.

he said harbor freight. I asked. good points though.

119 is $47 at walmart so it isn’t just a little cheaper its $27 cheaper. You could buy to then hit the taco bell drive through for lunch 🤪

yes Sir. i still got it as I borrowed it to look it over...was gonna post pics showing the bad but decided I didn't want to encourage any drop by folks into wasting their money by accident. if they do stop by here......id say spend the extra 30 or so bucks at Walmart or whatever is your easiest source and get a real Buck. made in America with good steel, good heat treat and lifetime warranty........y'all already know this...so that aint for y'all. i don't need to be preaching to the choir.😁

Apparently the price went up to $24 pretty much right away.

Jeff's update video tells that it is exactly what we expected.

You can get 2 of these for the price of 1 Buck 119 from Walmart , and I'm sure the pair would not last as long.
Of course you also get the warranty with Buck which adds value.
