How can you afford that!?!

Editor/Staff Writer for the Bass Pro shops Internet Department. Also do freelance work and sometimes get to write about knives. ;)

I'm a mutual fund and annuity wholesaler. I've been in the investment business since 1981, first as a stockbroker, then kind of switched sides to where now all my customers are stockbrokers, financial planners, etc. I currently manage a twelve state region (way too big for this kind of work :( ), covering most of the Southwestern U.S. geegee

Logistics Specialist for an International Freight Forwarder. Prior to this job I worked in technical theater as a Props Master and Stage Manager. Masters in Theater from UNCG. When my son was born I had to find a job that payed well and on a regular basis, so now I move bras and panties around the world.

Licensed private pilot(just for fun..it doesn't pay the bills). I work in the R&D department at my family's business doing cad design and as a limited partner (dividend checks are much nicer than paychecks). I worked there for seven years then took a break from the family business to go back to school and get some experience working somewhere else for awhile. I worked for General Atomics/Aeronautical Systems for about eight months as a designer (the guys that build the Predator uav) before I realized how much I didn't enjoy working in the defense industry. I've been back at the family business for a little less than a year now and I'll probably stay there until I retire (I'm only 34 so I have a ways to go). I also have sole custody of my six year old daughter...

If anyone's curious here's what my family does....WWW.Hunterindustries.com

As a full time landscape design/install/maintainance owner I am very familiar with your families products- Great stuff !!! I also dabble a bit in knives- investing and some other things.... God is Good!

Thanks, we've been very lucky and we have some very talented employees who are rabidly loyal to the company.

Network Engineer for Verizon FNS (If you say "Can you hear me now", I will beat you senseless ;) ).

I've been working with VPN and VPN over wireless networks a lot lately. It's interesting stuff, I'd do it as a hobby if I didn't get paid for it.

Hey! My butcher just retired a few years ago, every man needs a butcher! Anyhow, how do I afford it? Part-time jobs and begging ;)

Worked in the IC industry for about 5 years, last job in that was at Intel as a L2 equipment tehnician in Phoenix AZ, they layed us off, so I moved back here to St. Louis and now fix slot machines at a local Casino...huge paycut, but fun as hell and tons of T&A.

TIP: Don't go to casinos if you plan on retiring.

I an Intellectual Property Manager (patents, trademarks, etc.) for a technology company (semiconductor material suppliers - ie. we supply the stuff everybody uses when they make their next greatest computer chip). Not too large (about 300 employees) but we are considred the experts in our particular niche and do business in every developed country in the world. If you have a car, computer, digital camera, or have ever been in an airplane - our products are there.

Let's see - went to school and got an MS in biochemistry. Worked in the lab a few years. Moved over to the business side of things and ended up here. I love my job, but would have never anticipated that I'd be doing it. Pays the bills and gives a bit left over for my knife habbit - I mean hobby ! - after supporting the family (My wife is going back to school for her degree part time and staying home with our two kids the rest).

I'm your basic grunt.

I work for a furniture retailer in the warehouse/delivery section. I was doing inventory control for the company for the state, but they (that section of the company) moved out of state and I didn't. It pays (most of) the bills. I really should cut down though. :)

mtnbkr> can you hear me now? good.

j-man> I grew up by a small town(as in less than 1K people b/w the town and surrounding farms), and they do all the processing there. Always work available for the people out there. And they only have about 8 stores on main street. next town over(15min drive) has about 30.
Tell yah, if you aren't afraid of getting your hands full of blood you can save really well on meat. A $10 roast will feed you for about a week, just buy it and cut it up, toss back in freezer. stirfry, steak pitas, fried slices(1/8" thick on a sandwitch), steaks(really cheap source, relativly tender and a marinade fixes them right up)... I buy cheap cuts and make jerky with inside round. I make a weeks worth of meals with rice and a $10 roast...

Well I have two jobs. I own an Insurance Agency/Managing General Agency, and a Gun Shop here in Texas.

7:00 15:00 - driver programmer for new electronics (if you are asked to check your fingerprint to enter an airport it's partly my fault).
17:00 21:00 - Finishing computer science in college.

I exchanged time for money, so now collecting is a great hobby to have. :)
