Well guys, I'll give you all the benefit of the doubt and say that YOU automatically said "HOT!" when you read my post rather than pondering it for more than 30 minutes, the way it took me.
Good instincts to all that said it's hot.
Not that I KNOW this to be a fact at this time, but after I posted this and calmed down over seeing all this high class cutlery in my house, I came to the same conclusion that you guys did.
First, I asked Tim to get me the exact details surrounding his friend's aquisition of the knives in question. He said he will, and I believe him. For some odd reason, the kid thinks the sun shines outta my nostrils and respects the hell outta me, and wouldn't do anything to make himself look bad to me. He may look nuts, but he's probably the best teenage male I've ran into in the last 20 years (even though that picture shows me immediately after he pepper sprayed me from like 3 feet with a straight stream from PUNCH II LEO Stregth OC)
He's going to contact his friend tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I checked out the link that APM offered and was hoping for a phone number for Mike Dawson, but it only had a fax number. Within 30 minutes of making my original post, I emailed the email address on his page, lindad@northlink.com, with the following:
I have yet to receive a reply, but it's been less than 24 hours, and my guess is that they don't check their email every minute.
If anyone knows Mike, and knows me well enough that although pretty insane, I'm "safe" and honest, and I'd appreciate you telling him about the situation so that if it is indeed stolen, it can be returned to its rightful owner.
Update: First off, in that mail I refer to Tim as my son. He's been living here for the last year +, and we've been raising him due to his previous home environment being less than optimum. I dunno... when I heard that his stepdad decided to add to the family's income by selling weed, and then badgering Tim to sell the stuff at school, it was a no-brainer to have the kid live here instead. Yes, I tend to be fairly insane at home, and I am sure to be causing years and years of future therapy for Tim and my daughter, but dammit, they both love me.
Anyhow, I'm raising him and being the daddy-person, so lotsa times I just tell folks he's my son to make matters simpler. Funny thing is, I also introduce Alisha as my daughter, so sometimes I have fun by telling my "son" to kiss my daughter on the lips, tongue ok for the purposes of freaking people out.
Secondly, I asked Tim a bit more pointedly this evening about the knives. I was told that his friend's mother said he's not allowed to have any knives and was forced to get rid of all his weapons.
The friend claims that his roomate gave them to him. I was also informed that this roomate was into kiddy porn.
Now putting 3 and 47 together, my frazzled mind has come up with the possible following scenario.
Kiddyporn guy is older, with a good job and is into knives. He gets a young male roomate (he's over 18) and tries getting on his good side. The Dawson was a birthday gift. The other knives were just given to the kid as "tokens of friendship" or something.
Anyhow, the kid left the roomate, came home to his mom, where mom said he can't have those knives. This kid then gave them to Tim, and that's where we're at right now.
I realize that's only one possible explanation and everything could be completely different, but right now, everything hinges on my getting info from Mike Dawson about where this knife was sent. If he contacts the customer, and said customer reports it was stolen, I think I should insist on getting a police report.
At this point, that's where I'm leaning since there's a possibility that my former scenario is correct, and if the guy's bitter, or just a creep, he may say, "Yeah, it sure was stolen, get it back for me", when in fact he gave it away trying to get into a young guy's jeans.
This sure is complicated, ain't it?
LOL
Still, I shall investigate further, and I am open to any ideas....barring someone saying, "VG, yeah, that was stolen from my house, gimme, gimme, gimme!" So if you're so inclined, please post your suggestions.
Amazed at the seriousity of my post and the fact that I'm really able to remain knifally oriented, topic-wise, so I can stay here at General for a while
I remain,
VG

Hi,
My son recieved several knives last night as gifts. One of them was made by Mike, I believe.
Photos are at:

and

The serial number is 065
Considering the quality and cost of this blade, I am having a difficult time understanding how my son's 17 year old friend came across this and was so non chalant about its value to just give it to my son. One possibilty is that it was stolen. If this is the case, I would like to know in order to get the blade back to the person that owns it, not to mention have my son's friend bannished from my home forever and finally, arrested.
Would it be possible by tracing the serial number, to contact the original owner and find out if he or she is missing this blade? I don't know how much effort would be required on your part, but I am hoping it would be easy enough to do. If the knife is indeed stolen, it is grand theft and the perpetrator has been hanging around my kid, and obviously, that's not something I want. Additionally, the owner probably misses this gem, and while I like having it in my house, I certainly don't want it here if it belongs to someone else.
Any assistance you or Mike can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave G. a/k/a Vampire Gerbil
