how come.......

Are you sure it's solid under there? I'd bet it's drilled out like most fixed blades.

Love the looks of it, dunno if I'd drop $250 on one. That said, I don't remember what the Bushcrafters were going for.

I have two of the original Temperance. Awesome big blade. Tremendous control with that beautiful handle. One of them is a regular in my kitchen.

Here is a photo of the Temperance 2--it is full tang

Temperance 1 is above it(I do not think it is full tang)

I like them and have the original version but $250 ?

I could draw up a similar design and get someone such as John of JK knives to make it me for $150 give or take a little !

it's alot of steel with no belly... that's why. alot of useless steel just to incorporate a spyderco looking blade design with a big useless hole in the top, seems to me like it's a spydie novelty item.

any chance of some kitchen use pics?

the blade reminds me of my old Sprint run manix blade

no belly is fine by me! i never use the tip anyways.....

Its a lot of cost for a lot of ugly imo. Just never did anything for me for whatever reason

lol i agree lets keep it clean in here

But really bushman you can't lie how many girls fell victim to the just the tip line lmao :)

i also have to pass on this one as it just doesn't do much for me. it looks solid but just not my type, though after a couple beers i might just talk it into just the tip

Well I think it's a good looking knife, and would use it in a heartbeat, if offed it.
But it is not a Ray Mears clone, and as such it would clash with my bush craft fantasys ;)

It's a strange shape for sure and I would normally pass but I had a Manix folder for a long time and it was a great, ergonomic design.

Now the price on it is another thing, I don't quite see why it's so much.

You both took the words out of my mouth and I love Spyderco folders. Cost too much and I don't think the spyderco blade shape lends itself well to this size\style of knife. I wish they would have made it more leaf and less triangle, it would still have that spyderco look, but be beefier, although of course also heavier. You know a regrind that took about 1.5" off the tip and added some belly would probably make it an awesome blade, but then you would be into it for around $300

I actually always really liked the looks of that one. Hey Pitdog, you have an original don't you? Cost of the micarta one is a factor for me, but really, I just checked one vendor and the retail price was $211 + shipping. Thats not any more than many Barkies that are similar sized knives. Personally, I think the knife would be more competitively priced at about $160-170 mark. Now the temperance was released at about $250 and like many of their fixed blades, its price point is slowly dropping down.

Like Pitdog, I'd much more likely opt for a custom if I were going to pay that much for a new knife at that price point. However, the VG10 is a unique attribute of this one and the only other game for that steel is a falkniven laminate. You want micarta on the falkniven? Guess what, you are going to pay >$200.00.

The temperance blade shape really does nothing at all for me. It looks more like it was made for stabbing, than carving fuzz sticks and building traps. I'll take my "faulty handled, easily broken" bushcraft any day.

By the way, I've only read one report of a spydie bushcraft breaking, and I believe the knife was on its way to Sal to be tested for any flaws. Let's not dump all over the entire design because one person had one break on him, especially before the results of the inspection are made public. I can find lots of examples where people broke full tang knives from companies that build their entire reputations on the toughness of their blades, yet I don't sit here and claim that they are easily broken pieces of crap.

for the price, i'd like to see some burl handle scales, more belly, and deffinately better steel ...VG10 isn't bad at all, don't get me wrong, but i can't see a price like that coming from a VG 10 blade. if it was s90v or similar, then maybe, just maybe i could understand the price... even then, i don't think it would need $250 price tag nor would i drop that much on it.
