It looks like Case has actually gone and discontinued the pattern 08 half whittler 😭😭
This is my Favorite Case pattern and I was actually looking to buy another CS white smooth bone to customize when I couldn't turn anything up.
I wasn't buying many of them because they only had 2 carbon steel offerings and I really don't like that pocket worn grey bone, but I always had my fingers crossed that they'd release more Carbon steel that I could buy.

If they weren't selling that well I understand, but it still bums me out.

I feel your pain.

I tried ordering a black synthetic Case Punch Stockman (not that I needed it, but I kinda wanted all three versions) It's been back ordered for a year and a half now. I suspect Case may not ever make another one.:(

Oh well, these two will last me a good long time.

I, too, scratch my head over Case's decisions on what knives to produce. How many years has it been since they made a 92 stockman?
The quintessential 4" square bolster stockman: how could they not make it in a variety of handles and steels? o_O

On a factory tour many years ago I asked the same question. At that time I was told a lot of the old pattern dies were either destroyed or what they could use for new patterns was done. At the time my question pertained to the 35 1/2 pattern.
John 😁

I have a real hard time believing any of that!! 😒
John 😁
I have a hard time even wanting to believe it.
I think they have a pretty easy job really, a large majority of their buyers are display style collectors who just want a new handle color of their favorite bright shiny model.
They seem to do pretty well mostly just having to make the same in a new color so it makes no sense that they'd need to make such a drastic change of direction.

I feel this one, I misplaced one years ago and went to order another one...and out of stock. 😭
Tragic.

Case can’t get any traction on their lineup of moderns they got now!!
Dump what pays the bills?? 🤔😂

At least they brought the Baby Doc out of the vault though, right? ...Right? 😅
Man....

Small congress was an ok choice but their execution was meh

The razor was a great pattern but put a normal frickin blade in it and they would have a winner for sure. Common at least offer a clip even if it's limited to a few cover options. Imagine that pattern with a clip and that nice pen blade. So good.

Baby doc... I havent even looked at the lineup lol

Those are sweet.... I better get to gettin one before they're hens teeth.

I don't understand their process either. Trapper or medium stockman have all the options in the world. Anything else is hit or miss.

Those are 2 of their most sold patterns, but that could be a chicken / egg situation. Other patterns would sell more if there were more options.

What really sucks with dropping the 08 ( no official word yet ) is that it's one of their smaller knives that they were consistently doing a great job with.
The blades on my mini Coke bottle and 33 small pen both have / had badly recurved pen blades, and it doesn't look like they were doing a good job with the small congress at all.

One pattern they seem to have shelved and it's no loss in my view, is the Butterbean thing ;) Got one somewhere and it's not in CASE's best bone either, hideous little brute like a foetal Canoe with stumpy blades.

The loss of the 08 HW is a big blow though, an attractive and useable smaller pattern that offered a nice choice of scales over the years.

If Case makes such terrible knives nowadays, maybe we won't miss them when they've closed the factory and moved production offshore.

I have had pretty good luck with only 2 knives over the years having any major issues.
If production moved offshore they'd just be rough Ryder knives with a higher pricetag, because many RR knives are really just Case knockoffs.
