How Did This Happen? Concerned...

You have fallen into a bottomless pit. Don't worry as there is plenty of good company down here.

It happens to just about all of us. The pictures are not pointless because I find them attractive. I thought the same thing when I was staring at all my knives and thought to my self "Damn, on the amount of money I spent on knives in the last 4 months I could of bought a few firearms. I love firearms and I am getting the bug again, and if ammo does not shoot back up I might take a break from buying knives and buy some guns. Great thing about knives is when all the firearm/ ammo prices shot up I just decided to spend more money on knives and I have come a long way with knives in the last year.

It is a disease. The only cure is poverty.
I'll see you at the soup kitchen sir. :o

Yep. As long as you have money in your pocket this will continue. Even if you quit whatever your current job is and get a job at McDonald's, you'll just start collecting SRMs, Enlans, Moras, and Opinels. The only true and permanent cure is a life of abject poverty. If you can't stomach the idea of living under a bridge, but you still want to cure yourself, I hear that becoming a monk is a decent way to go. You get a place to live and food to eat, but that's it, no private property, etc. :D

A knife addiction is cheaper than race cars or fancy women. I said cheaper; not more fun.

I say we give him a few more months than try to convert him to traditional knives lol

We all go through changes in our tastes, I just hope your wallet can keep up.

How come nobody has suggested that he give us all of his knives and then swear them off forever? Or just give us all his knives is fine too. ;)

On a separate note, what is a good knife in the $100-$200 range to keep a look out for? I like buying pre-owned and "users" are fine with me at this point.

In all seriousness, I might suggest the Zero Tolerance 0801. It's an incredibly well-built, sleek, tough folder. The sweeping lines of the blade and handle mesh so well while feeling snug in the hand. Those KVT bearings are sweet too. The only problem is that it may be too big for you (since you said the Strider was a bit big for EDC).

Yep, Striders in particular multiply like rabbits. See what I mean:

And this doesn't even include the new SnG DD Recurve in s110v that arrived Monday, or the CC SMF in 3v that arrived last week.

Your wife thinks you're crazy? Heck, I can't even afford one.

Oh its only the beginning and like said above Strider's become a fast addiction (I think I'm up to 19).

If you are going to continue stop telling your wife about every purchase. Quit proudly displaying the new features of different knives. You want invisibility. They should be just "the knives", nothing more. Also, get a slush fund up and running and don't get caught with it.

Either bring the knife in when the wife is gone, or if you can't wait take it out of the box, leave that in the car ( along with bag, paperwork, receipts), and bring the knife in the house riding in your pocket. Treat it like any of your other, already known knives until she goes to bed.

And, no tearful admissions. If caught don't act guilty. Just look her in the eye and say " What!?! "

:)

"What!!" LOL!!! Best post in this thread! It should go into a knife collector's/Owners manual or something.

It's similar to a drug addiction for me. My mom even took me to a doctor about my knife addiction. The doctor recommended I see a psychologist.

Well, I am glad to see that I am in good company! The wife understands to a degree, and luckily for both of us, I got the big ticket watch and gun collecting out of the way before she entered the picture. Luckily she has no clue, much like my 1911's, as to what is what, and the value associated.

I do have a PayPal slush fund, so she never sees any of the transactions...thank goodness. I will continue to take "glamour shots" and make sure they are not "pointless"...great pun BTW...
