How did you cut the tendons in your fingers?

Mine looks exactly like grandalls but with my right hand. Cut both tendons on my pinky. To this day the middle joint is still huge, and the last joint doesn't close fully. It's gets cold and numb sometimes.

My hand split down a mora while prying frozen chops. I was stupid, and now I know.

my left hand ,palm side has a scar running between my pointer finger and showing love finger all the way down to my wrist, though it has faded and thru the years I remember it like it was yesterday....outdoors by a creek bank 10-12 high and at the top of the bank stood a tree while jacking around my friend was below clearing brush & what not when I fell maybe 8 feet to the ground due to tree limb break, after bouncing off ground and rolling towards the edge of the bank with creek below 10-12 more feet I reach out to grab a root or something and there was his machete sticking in the ground as I grabbed and slide down blade,...hand gapped open 1-1.5" wide and maybe5"long , o- the pain and tenders exposed, bleed but not as much as you would have thought !

Although not knife related, this thread made me remember this: Ten years ago, I was arguing very harshly with my then wife, loud screams, insults and all, I lose my temper and punched a window with bare hands, the glass shards sliced my knuckles and in my right pinkie finger and elbow I have scars about one inch long, all bloodied, I went to the nearest clinic to receive my stitches, for a while lost sensibility in my hand and until know, when I flex my index, a numb pain follows, can't make an efective fist since then. All a soap opera.

One word - balisong. Thankfully, I didn't cut the tendon itself, but the Dr. said I did cut the tendon sheath/membrane. I guess than membrane did it's job and protected the tendon.

The worst cut I've ever had was on the underside of the first knuckle on my left ring finger. It was very close to the bone. No clue how it missed the tendon, but I'm glad it did. I'm thankful that I still have all the feeling and movement in that finger.

Cut the tendon on my left index phalange closing a new centofante 3 how most people close mid-back locks. Went right through it, made me feel like a complete idiot. It still droops a bit after having it sewn back up.

Edit: Just realized this thread is a zombie, sorry for adding to it.

No serious cuts myself although I keep my new Delica 4 on the bedstand and last night I was admiring it's orange FRN handles by holding it up why laying on my back (directly above my head). As I turned it over I lost control of it and it impacted my face, tip-down, on the cheek. Broke the skin and had some bleeding on my right cheek. If that had hit any eye though I'm sure it would have done some damage, even gone through an eyelid with eyes closed I'm sure.

I had a friend who was at a keg party with a katana in his belt (stupid, I know). Another friend, as a joke, came up behind him and started pulling it out of the scabbard. My friend, drunk, felt something and reached down and closed his hand on the sliding blade pulling out of the scabbard. Sliced into his palm down to the bone, he now has no feeling in any of the four fingers on that hand (except for the thumb) and can't close his fist fully either.

That story is one of the main reasons that if I'm going anywhere where alcohol will be consumed I leave my EDC folder at home. I have no use of "tactical" folders, I only use them for utility and when you're drunk that's always a BAD idea. I still carry a SAK knife classic though, but I figure there's no real danger there.

Please
tell me you're never going to do this again. The mental image just chills me to the bone.

Mine was from drilling a hole in a piece of sheet metal with a drill press. Left hand was holding the metal, right hand was on the lever moving the chuck downwards.
I heard a sickening "BANG!", knew what happened, and for a while I was afraid to look. I first looked on the floor for any disconnected digits -- there weren't any. Just as I was feeling good about it, I looked at my left hand and saw a laceration in the palm between the little finger and the ring finger. "OK, not too bad." Then I tried to make a fist, and the pinky didn't move. Uh, oh.
What surprised me was they didn't repair it immediately. They waited for the laceration to heal before going back in and fixing the tendon, which had retracted significantly up toward my wrist.
The surgery happened just before I was scheduled to be an usher at a buddy's wedding. The wedding pictures show me with a wad of bandage sticking out of the sleeve of the tux!
