How did you find Bladeforums?

Bought a tool box at an estate sale, which had an old Queen City Jack knife in it. I was attempting to find info. on the said knife. That is where I contracted the BF virus.

I think it was Sept 1998.
Was driving around the back roads of Bastidville and saw this guy hitch-hiking with a dog and his girlfriend.

Felt sorry for the dog and his girlfriend, so I pulled over and picked them up. The guy said his name was Spark from Kaintuckee and he was movin' to Jacksonville FL. to start a knife forum.

(Some of the above is actually the truth.)

I was doing a web search for information about Kydex... I wanted to make some personalized holsters for my handguns and needed to know more about forming Kydex and where to by it...

During the search, this site popped up, bit me in the neck, and now I am one of the BF walking dead who just can't stay away.

(by the way, instead of Kydex, I eventually made a bunch of holsters out of some left over vinyl siding I had laying around... and they work great.)

(I'm bettin' the "true" part is the part where you were driving around in Sept. 1998 and you picked up some girl that was hitchhiking:eek::D:D).

Thats more like it.:D

I found it through an internet search for handle materials in 2001. After lurking for a couple of years, I joined up.

Every time that I did a search for a knife, this place popped up so I figured there had to be somebody here that knew something about knives, little did I know.

I was another who was searching for information on Khukuri's back in February 2004 because a friend had two of them and I was going over to his house to look at them and I wanted to be prepared and to appear that I knew a little about them.

I spelled it Kukri back then but the result was the same in that I 'discovered' Uncle Bill and HI. I joined BF but lost that membership name when I changed ISP and upgraded computers. :o

Several incarnations later and I still only know a little about Khukuris and blades in general but BF is where I spend most of my online time.

I was looking to buy a new pocket knife and was googling up info on various candidates. The searches kept leading here.

Same here. And, like 555, I never gave forums a second look before then. Now my laptop has a reflection of my face burned into it because of Bladeforums. :o

I started looking for info on auto knives because my work sometimes takes me into rough neighborhoods. I though it might be a good idea to carry a knife. You guys taught me otherwise. But never for the life of me did I think I would learn as much as I have about knives and about life (both on the internet and in general) from so many very nice people. I am glad I stumbled in the door here. You might not get rid of me for awhile. Or ever even. -DT

BTW, I ended up with a sizeable collection of autos, folders, fixed blades, multitools, saks, etc.etc. You guys have been kind of hard on my wallet. :( :)

I was debating whether or not to buy a SOG trident or a KA-BAR mule, I read about the assisted opening mechanism that the trident used and I checked Virginia knife laws to make sure it was legal to own. That only confused the heck out of me so I decided I would ask here.

I was walking around minding my own business and the forum followed me home. I promise I will feed and water it everyday, and take it outside .....Oh wait you probably want the truth, or a reasonable facsimile.
I have always been interested in knives, built several from kits several years ago and one from an old file.
Moved down to Va last year and I decided I neede a new hobby. Looked for information on forge building on line and got directed here. Seemed like one of the nicer and friendlier forums on line so I signed up. I also joined a blacksmith organization down here to.

I stumbled on the bfc chatroom and timmy and the guys told me about it so i checked it out... o and my ole buddy vampy told me ya'll needed more wimmin here too

Some search or another lead me here, and I couldn't believe there was a place where folks talked about nothing but knives! It took 3 days, and about 10 hours on BF before I joined. I hate to think about how much work time I've spent on here. At least I have something to show for it. Lot's of knowledge, a drawer full of steel, an empty wallet, and some BFF! Not to mention a large folder on my thumb drive with great pics of knives, ladies, and more knives.:D
